I spent some time in San Antonio and got a real feel for TexMex. My favorite place there was Taco Cabana with their cabrito tacos. I felt that I was in a waste land for really good Mexican food until I discovered Casa Frida in Fort Lauderdale - that is, until yesterday when I ate at Taqueria Dona Raquel in... More

good choices in authentic tacos. They dont have other mexican dishes like pollo pibil, but this is a taco place not a fine dining. in fact its at the end of shopping plaza facing Dixie highway. the interior is cafeteria like and brightly lighted with fluorescent lights. However the service was quick, friendly - they speak english and spanish. the... More

Doña Raquel is about the best, affordable Mexican restaurant in this area. Service is always very good and all the wait staff is personable and friendly. They usually address me in English so I conclude that all are bi-lingual. One unusual aspect of this place is that if you don't see what you want on the menu, ask. If they... More

Whenever I travel in the U.S. I look for tacos. Not just any tacos, but the tacos I ate when I was young in the slums of the Distrito Federal, Mexico City. Those tacos were made of mysterious meats roasted over roaring fires, surrounded by yelling men, calling out their commands. While the scene is never like what I experienced... More

As close as it can get to Mexican food. Good flavors, real Mexican. Not texmex. Service is very good too.

Four of us had dinner here. Everyone enjoyed their food. Interesting combo's were available. Goat, liver, tripe, lamb... We were advised by our waitress, Ruth, that much of these unique foods were available on Saturday, not necessarily during the week. I found my shrimp cooked to the perfect temperature and very tasty. I also had a tripe taco...Not a fancy... More

Saw a review about this place (public TV) and decided to try it. What a mistake. The place is in need of serious cleaning. Beside sanitation and poor customer service to top it all the food is unacceptable: beans from a can, greasy thick totopos, salty mole enchiladas, the mystery meat in the tacos... Yes it is not expensive but... More

A few days ago, my mother and I went to a spot that we often go to when we’re looking for cheap/quick food with flavor. This place is called Taqueria Dona Raquel, a Mexican restaurant on Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach. In all honesty, the food is very good. Everything is a la carte with prices ranging from a few... My family and I have visited this spot about four times in the last four months and have always come away impressed. The portions are big - try ordering a torta and you'll see what I mean - the salsa just right and they have all kinds of Mexican juices: agua de jamaica, pina, etc. My Mexican in-laws can attest...
