Description: Cabbage Key is a 100 acre island located five miles off of Pine Island, FL in the Pine Island Sound. The Inn, built in the 1940's by the family of Mary Roberts Rinehart, now houses our famous Restaurant & Dollar Bill Bar and six guest rooms. The rooms in the Inn are all different with old Florida charm - they do not have TVs, phones, or refrigerators. We have seven cottages on the island, ranging from a 1 bedroom/1 bath cottage to 3 bedroom/3 bath waterfront units. All cottages have refrigerators, televisions (no cable) and coffee makers, some units have full kitchens. Our restaurant is open seven days a week and serves breakfast, lunch & dinner. If you want to relax on a beach...we do not have one here. But, Cayo Costa is a close kayak or boat ride away. This is a great retreat to discover "Old Florida", relax with a book, fish from our docks & watch the boats go by.

Headed over to the Cabbage Key Inn for lunch with family and friends after a morning on the beach at Cayo Costa. Dockmaster was very friendly and helpful in getting us into a slip for our rented 23' boat. When we entered the charming restaurant we noticed there was a sign no bare feet... Of course my teens left their... More

The Cabbage Key Inn definitely takes you back to an Old Florida setting, complete with veranda, ceiling fans, and a lack of air conditioning. The most unique aspect of the restaurant is the dining room with thousands of signed dollar bills attached to walls, ceilings, and other fixtures. The restaurant is also rumored to have been the inspiration for Jimmy... More

Thank you for taking the time to write about your recent visit to Cabbage Key. However, in the 1970's, Jimmy Buffett did spend time at Cabbage Key before he performed a concert in Ft.... More

The most fun part of going to Cabbage Key and eating at the restaurant is that you can only get there by boat. Being off season, the restaurant was fairly quiet and the service was lightning quick! We took our daughter who was visiting from California there and she was intrigued by the story of Jimmy Buffet and the "Cheeseburger... More

We did not stay at the inn, but boated over for lunch. We had been here before and I do believe the burgers were even better than in the past. If you do not like medium, they honor how you order (we ordered and got well done). No French fries because they do not want to deal with the grease... More

Don't get me wrong, I am all for the 'old' ways and in keeping with tradition. But then I get really angry with tourist traps that take advantage of people for some corporate or other (already rich person) benefit and it gets me a little frustrated... I'll begin with the positive, the food was decent (nothing more). The restaurant was... More

You can only get there by boat, how cool is that? The burgers are really good. It was easy to get a shuttle boat over, and a nice trip. Dolphins followed our boat. It was warm, but we had a breeze. We left a few dollars in the money room, and I a grateful that there are such fun places... More

Thank you for writing about your recent visit to Cabbage Key. It is definitely a unique Old-Florida Island, only accessible by boat. There are water taxi's and day boats that bring visitors out here every day. Check out our website for more information. Again, thank you for writing and we hope to see you again soon! More

We visited the historic Cabbage Key Resort (restaurant and inn) after hearing rave reviews about the place for a cheeseburger in Paradise. This place is one of Jimmy Buffet's favs and where he supposedly wrote the song. The restaurant is definitely old Florida, laid back, screened in front porch where we ate (no a/c), outside patio and the "money room"... More

Alright I understand the poor reviews posted on here, but from the point of a view of a "local" who frequents here often it is for sure a great spot to visit. We live on another island near by and enjoy coming here for drinks with friends often. We personally enjoy Tassey's company behind the bar, she's an amazing bartender.... More

This restaurant is only accessible by boat, so it makes for a fun time. The waitress was friendly, and our cheeseburgers were awesome! They were the reason for our trek to Cabbage Key! The atmosphere is fun! It's the second time we've been here, and we would go back when we are in Florida.
