Description: Cabbage Key is a 100 acre island located five miles off of Pine Island, FL in the Pine Island Sound. The Inn, built in the 1940's by the family of Mary Roberts Rinehart, now houses our famous Restaurant & Dollar Bill Bar and six guest rooms. The rooms in the Inn are all different with old Florida charm - they do not have TVs, phones, or refrigerators. We have seven cottages on the island, ranging from a 1 bedroom/1 bath cottage to 3 bedroom/3 bath waterfront units. All cottages have refrigerators, televisions (no cable) and coffee makers, some units have full kitchens. Our restaurant is open seven days a week and serves breakfast, lunch & dinner. If you want to relax on a beach...we do not have one here. But, Cayo Costa is a close kayak or boat ride away. This is a great retreat to discover "Old Florida", relax with a book, fish from our docks & watch the boats go by.

We did not stay at the inn, but boated over for lunch. We had been here before and I do believe the burgers were even better than in the past. If you do not like medium, they honor how you order (we ordered and got well done). No French fries because they do not want to deal with the grease... More

Don't get me wrong, I am all for the 'old' ways and in keeping with tradition. But then I get really angry with tourist traps that take advantage of people for some corporate or other (already rich person) benefit and it gets me a little frustrated... I'll begin with the positive, the food was decent (nothing more). The restaurant was... More

You can only get there by boat, how cool is that? The burgers are really good. It was easy to get a shuttle boat over, and a nice trip. Dolphins followed our boat. It was warm, but we had a breeze. We left a few dollars in the money room, and I a grateful that there are such fun places... More

We visited the historic Cabbage Key Resort (restaurant and inn) after hearing rave reviews about the place for a cheeseburger in Paradise. This place is one of Jimmy Buffet's favs and where he supposedly wrote the song. The restaurant is definitely old Florida, laid back, screened in front porch where we ate (no a/c), outside patio and the "money room"... More

Alright I understand the poor reviews posted on here, but from the point of a view of a "local" who frequents here often it is for sure a great spot to visit. We live on another island near by and enjoy coming here for drinks with friends often. We personally enjoy Tassey's company behind the bar, she's an amazing bartender.... More

This restaurant is only accessible by boat, so it makes for a fun time. The waitress was friendly, and our cheeseburgers were awesome! They were the reason for our trek to Cabbage Key! The atmosphere is fun! It's the second time we've been here, and we would go back when we are in Florida.

We had heard of this restaurant before leaving home and having been a Jimmie Buffet fan since his beginnings we had to check it out. We enjoyed the trip over with Captiva Cruises and the cheeseburger was great. Service was terrific and the atmosphere of the place was perfect. I read the revue from Susan F prior to writing this... We boated over to Cabbage Key after hearing people talk about the "cool" restaurant there. It's a small island with only one restaurant. Initially it seemed that this was going to be a great experience as we were greeted at the dock by a dockhand helping boaters find a suitable slip for their boats. The short walk uphill to the... Thank you for writing about your recent visit to Cabbage Key. We strive to have all of our guests leave Cabbage Key well-fed and satisfied - clearly you were not. Cabbage Key was established in 1944 and although we are an extremely busy lunch destination, we have tried at the same time to maintain the "Old Florida" environment created by... More
