First stop after fishing

After fishing with the family we came in for lunch. Had to stop at the gas station to get cash at the atm as they are cash only. Ordered, shrimp, gator and frog legs. Everything has the same dredge to let the flavor of the seafood shine through. Very simple food at good prices. Their Boston Creme... read more

The best seafood in Florida. Price is VERY reasonable and food quality/quantity outstanding! Will not eat at another seafood restaurant again. Nothing compares. I can't say enough good things about this place. From the staff, to the food, to the location,. Very down to earth and worth the drive to Astor. Nothing fancy, just good seafood. They do only except... More

Had lunch on Sunday, was disappointed because friends had said how good it was. Son got the gator snack which he couldn't eat because it had no flavor and was like rubber. Husband got the frog legs he could only eat one, the were way over cooked, and almost burnt.. .My shrimp was ok, but the fries were over cooked.... More

My girlfriend and I stopped in to Essex recently. I had been there about 5 years ago and it was ok. But I was craving whole belly clams. I got the 2 way combo with Clams and scallop's. First i forgot. They take CASH only. Nothing else. So I had to run next door to the gas stations ATM. Waitress... More

I used to love to travel to get the Whole Clam dinner - the 2nd place on Route 40 to offer them. My last visit the price was the same - near $20.00 for the dinner, however the size of the Clams were no less than 1/10th the size of the usual clams. The server admitted many people have complained,... More

Been twice. First time, awesome burger. Today I order the lobster roll and very disappointed. Came on a Kaiser roll, not the traditional split top as I was told on my first visit. Lobster was terrible, very chewy and not worth 17.99. I ate half and couldn't eat it. Would eat there again but would not order lobster. I'm from... More

The food is excellent, as is the staff, especially the young blonde. The only problem is you need cash. They don't accept any credit cards.

The best fried clams I've ever had outside of Maine. This little place has the best seafood of anywhere in the area. It's a very casual restaurant and nothing fancy except the food. A very nice menu and the portions are BIG. It's not cheap but a GREAT value for what you get. CASH only so be prepared. Service was... More

I'll start by saying this is tough one to rate. Part of me thinks I could rate it very good, but in the end it's average. Decent portions of fried seafood. The clams seem to be fresh, lots of onion rings, cold beer. I know there are a lot of people that rave about it, but in the end this... More

Drove by this place for years and saw the sign about their fried clams. With a New England background I was skeptical. Finally we stopped in and tried them. I thought they were great, my wife was not as impressed. Still we agree that they are definitely the best we've gotten in Florida. We have gourmet friends who travel 40... More
