Description: Capt. Anderson's restaurant is one of those rare "family"...
Capt. Anderson's restaurant is one of those rare "family" restaurants that not only survives, but strengthens and improves through the years. The landmark waterfront restaurant is celebrating its 46th anniversary in 2013, and every year has witnessed remarkable growth without loss of quality. The restaurant has grown to 725 seats and, six nights a week, serves over 250,000 guests during its 8 month season. Founders, Jimmy and Johnny Patronis set high standards of hard work and consistency for the younger Patronis generations, and they still pull their shifts at the busy restaurant, stopping by to welcome old friends and loyal customers... occasionally bussing a table or taking a special order. Their passion for the business is undoubtedly the root of Capt. Anderson's success.Named among America's Top 50 restaurants, recipient of the "Best Seafood Restaurant" award from Southern Living and Wine Spectator's "Award of Excellence," Capt. Anderson's won Florida Trend's Golden Spoon Award for 15 years before being inducted into the Restaurant Hall of Fame in 2005. The Hall of Fame is the highest honor Florida Trend can bestow upon a Florida restaurant.Year 'round, the Patronis family works with fishermen, oystermen and others who make their living harvesting the Gulf and Bay waters, to preserve the natural oyster beds of Apalachicola Bay... to build artificial reefs... and protect the fragile coastal ecology. Preserving and replenishing the rich natural bounty of the Gulf Coast is part of the Capt. Anderson’s legacy, one of the most important reasons this landmark restaurant is known for serving more fresh local seafood than any other restaurant in Florida.

Visited at a time when there were just a few diners so there was no reason we waited 10 minutes before our server greeted us at our table. She seemed bothered that we didn't want the lunch buffet, which had little to offer. I ordered the coconut shrimp from the appetizers along with a side, my b/f ordered a hamburger... More

Went with friends. The whole grilled pompano is the best I have ever tasted. The crab finger appetizer is so tender and cooked perfectly every time. The key lime pie is awesome as well. I don't forget to try the hush puppies.

Since the original Patronis brothers turned the restaurant over to their kids, Capt. Anderson's has not been the same. Large price increases and reduced size of servings has turned us off completely. There are lots of other good local places to dine. Seek them out and you will be much happier and wealthier.

Fresh caught seafood from their boats everyday. Pricey but delicious. They also have a dinner cruise which I reserved for my husband's birthday. Tip: Book the afternoon on not the evening if you are looking for views. Food was delicious but couldn't see anything except lights.

Captain Anderson's is a great seafood dining experience, with great service, entrees, appetizers and drinks. You will pay for what you receive. The views are spectacular and I cannot say enough about this place but as a thrifty traveler, this is a luxury.

Let me start with our waitress. I understand it was busy time but it's not costumer 's fault if waitress had a bad day. She was super slow. She is keep going back and forth and not even offering us drinks. And finally she brought us a water and spilled all over the table didn't even apologized nor cleaned. She... More

If you're looking for a romantic night out or want a more upscale dining experience on your vacation, head to Capt. Anderson's. You'll really enjoy all of their fresh seafood and the ambiance is great. They have a nice wine list and of course a full bar. Highly recommend the crab knuckles appetizer.

This has to be by far the best place to eat anywhere! The wait is more than worth it! The buildings history and the marina around it are breathtaking and the service inside is far above par! The food is indescribable :)

We were excited to be at Captain Anderson's -- it's expensive but we thought it's going to be totally worth the splurge to get the "supreme seafood" experience. The piled high plates arrived and we heartily forked in -- but the seafood variety platter (captain's platter?) was fused together in a kind of rubbery consistency and somehow the fish, scallops,... Jimmy,

Greetings!

Public feedback to your questions (Also sent you the same in an email).

First, I will say we were totally floored by our Capt Anderson’s dining experience. So much so we questioned whether we were dining at the right restaurant.

We were in PCB from 10/25 thru 11/08 and Capt Anderson’s was very highly recommended by two other couples, hotel desk clerk, and a waiter at another restaurant (Long Horn).

We were told to arrive early because the restaurant would get very busy later in the evenings (we could expect a 45 mins or more wait) and made aware Capt. Anderson’s was scheduled to close up for the season the middle of November through the beginning of February.

Q: What night did you dine with us?

A: This was not an evening dinner but rather a late afternoon. ETA was between 4:30-4:45pm (sun still up, no waiting, promptly seated). When we did leave it was after sunset and there were a lot of people in the lobby and outside patio area waiting to get in. Sorry, I do not have specific date. Unfortunately, I decided to pay cash rather than wait to pay by credit card. Otherwise, I would have exact date and time as we keep our CC receipts to tie back to our purchases. Speaking of which, I do not have CC dining receipts for the early evenings of 10/30(Th), 10/31(Fr), 11/01(Sa) or 11/03(Mo).

Q: what you ordered?

A: Entrée:

      a) Filet mignon med well (w/potato).

      b) Broiled gulf scallops (w/salad).

Q: Who your server was?

A: Do not remember our server's name. She was quite polite, very busy waiting tables, and apologetic about our meals. We sat at a table for two on the left side of the upper dining area next to a handrail overlooking a lower dining area and view of boats at the docks. Next to our table (away from the rail) is the table where the party of six was seated. Again, when we got our check I (1) unfortunately paid cash rather than having to wait paying by credit card and (2) I did not take the dining receipt as I should have. When exiting the dining area the lobby and outside entrance areas were packed with people waiting to dine. As my wife and I approached our car in the parking lot she said “I hope they have a better dining experience.”.
