One of the best Fish Camp Establishments Around

Fresh seafood, Variety in preparation. Catfish comes, fried, blackened or grilled, all on the bone or fillet. All you can eat or just a basket. Beware of small catfish on the bone though. Be sure to ask for the larger ones or you could end up with a 3 inch fish. While they may give you... read more

This place is a taxidermist's dream...I have no idea how many animals they have on display, just know that for those sensitive about this subject that you won't find a wider variety of stuffed critters unless you go to a museum. Continuing, the setting is gorgeous, especially in the evening. The food is good, not great, the menu is HUGE... More

I first ate here in the early 80's, it was at time a true fish camp with a nice little restaurant and a place to launch your boat from. It also had (and still does have) places to rent to park your trailer. I actually lived right outside the entrance when I was stationed here in the Navy. The specialty... More

We only eat fish during Lenten Friday's and Whitey's is our "go to" place. The portions are large for the price. The service is fast and the servers are friendly and knowledgeable. If the weather is nice the outside deck is the place to eat. The restaurant sits at the end of Doctors Lake. Sometimes the road noise of county... More

We always bring company here. We usually get a table out on the tiki bar. Friday night is half price apps, the loaded chips are to die for. We love to eat next to the water and have a beer. We also get oysters on the half shell, oyster baskets, gator tail, love the fried mushrooms. Service can be slow... More

I've been visiting Whitey's for the past 20+ years. Through all of the renovations and changes, the food has been consistently very good. Most of the menu is fried seafood but it is well seasoned and fresh. The drinks have always been good, as well. The atmosphere is very enjoyable if you like the boater/water crowd. They often have live... More

Could be better with a professional staff. Service leaves something to be desired. Location is great for outdoor dining when the weather is good. Food is "Fish Camp" style that is mostly fried, but that is what you should expect. Fun with friends or family, but could be better with a more attentive staff. Cheers!

The food here was of a good quality but we found that the seasoning is saltier than we prefer. It seems to be that all components of a dish are salted as though they are free-standing and therefore contribute to be overly salty when combined. Most of the menu is fried but that's we had expected. We went there for... More

Most things on their menu are fried, but it is all very good! We tried alligator tails and they were tasty. Fun place too!

Whitey's Fish Camp is a basic part of the history of Jacksonville. You don't have to be in the Navy to know about Whitey's. But I do not know of many sailors that do not know of this landmark eatery. Whitey's has been in business since 1963. It is one of those places that just seems to grow better with... More
