My friends told me that I HAD to go eat at the Mucky Duck, apparently it's an institution down in Captiva Island. It was a fun atmosphere and we didn't mind the wait. Surprised by how small the dining area was. Food was good, although I was surprised by how much my pasta of the day was. Market price=$23.00 for... More

We were a bit worried about our wait time but they seated us much sooner than expected. We had a large table right by the window. I loved the shrimp sampler platter which had shrimp prepared four different ways, and the shrimp were extra large. The waitress was very nice and accommodating. The interior of the restaurant was very small... More

We just returned from a week long stay on Captiva Island. It was our first trip and we decided to go down to the Mucky Duck (just 4 houses away!) on our first night there. It is just a little place with great outdoor seating where you can hang out with a drink and watch the view while you wait... More

We drove to the north of the island to have a beer and some food in this English style pub. The beer was nice and cool as expected although we did not expect the off hand greeting we received. So we drank our beers and left without eating deciding to deposit our dollars in a friendlier place. We noticed whilst... More

Went specifically to watch sunset and decided to have dinner. Was not expecting much as the last time I went service was poor-?rushed. Last night Lindsay, our server, was knowledgeable and helpful. Oh, and the food was perfectly prepared and delicious. The three of us had Mahi with dill sauce (large portion), Duck Duck Shrimp (appetizer, but was enough for... More

We went to the Mucky Duck to see the sunset and just decided to eat there - not real excited because of the reviews. The wait was about an hour and a half and if we wanted to we could have just gotten appetizers to eat outside with no wait for the food, but I couldn't find anywhere to sit... More

These guys have the monopoly on the sunset view in Captiva! The meal will be average - we had 6 people, 3 loved what they had (Swordfish, Salmon & Coconut Shrimp) and 3 were comparable to Applebee's at twice the price (two teriyaki steak and a fish and chips). They do have a great beer selection (Boddingtons on tap!). .... More

This place is right on the beach. You can eat outside and watch the sun set down into the Gulf. The real bonus? The food is outstanding. We get it to go back to Sanibel. We order it there because service is fast. Atmosphere is extremely casual, as in picnic tables. The clam chowder is the best on the islands.... More

Go for the food; stay for the postcard Sunset. Or, is it the reverse ? At any rate I recommend an approximate 6PM dinner followed by the sunset, Their website even publishes the daily sunset time !

This is a nice casual place to kick back and have something fun along with a cocktail or two. If you prefer beer, it is ripping cold. the food is very flavorful and my favorite is the clam chowder. Good for all ages.
