What this place lacks in ambience it equals in the food and the service. I was surprised to find this fish restaurant did not offer fish and chips so I opted for one of their signature fried seafood platters. How a fried platter can arrive at the table at room temperature is beyond me unless it had been fried earlier... More

This was our second visit to Captain Eddie's Seafood Bar in Nokomis. The first visit was serendipitous; this one was planned. I had a fresh broiled grouper sandwich and it was superb! I chose the cole slaw which was good, although it appeared to be chopped in a processor. My friend had the gulf shrimp basket which was very good... More

We really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere was perfect. We ate at the outside bar on a rainy day so we could watch it rain. It was very relaxing and the food was very good. I recommend this location as a place to get good seafood in the Venice area.

Another area classic for dinner or lunch. Huge portions and sides, you will not go home hungry. The seafood is a must as it is fresh-caught that day and made to order. Try one of the combo selections for a variety of fresh seafood choices. The service was tremendous and they even offer fresh seafood for sale to take home.... More

This place has been around for decades and haven't been there for decades. There is a large menu with a large variety of fish, much of it locally caught, which is a plus. Shrimp are especially good. Shrimp Taco had good shrimp but was not very warm and sort of conventional lacking in "finesse"coarse shredded cheddar on top). Calamari were... More

When I feel like fried fish Capitan Eddy is my first choice in Venice. Generally we stop there for lunch, (love the oyster Po-boy) but few weeks ago we decided to try their breakfast. It was good! My shrimp and grits were tasty and had a good amount of shrimp. It was a satisfying portion at a reasonable price. My... More

I went to Captain Eddie's a few times. Nice tiki bar dining area. However, food expensive and portions are embarrasing small for the price. I actually ended up there because everywhere else was packed.

I have eaten there a number of times over the last 20 years. The sea food has always been fresh and tasty. A little expensive but still worth the cost.
