It was a very cool day so nobody went to the beach. They all went to shop in Venice, Fl. The result was that there was no parking to be found, so we chose to head north on #41 and find a place on the way back to Sarasota. We spotted the Saltwater, made a U turn and voila, we... More

The restaurant advertised in local paper and had a coupon for 10 percent off with a claim of 2 for one drinks and we asked the waiter and he agreed that it was 2 for one. When I got the bill I was charged for all drinks. I questioned it and he said that two for one is only on... More

I got the wrong entree, the server never asked about how the prime rib should be cooked, the risotto was gluey ... a very disappointing experience!!!

Service was excellent, the food, the worst. $19 shrimp scampi consisted of 5 small shrimp swimming in butter that was oversaturated with garlic. Scalloped potatoes were over garliced and looked like something served in a prison. The grouper sandwich came with a decent piece of fish, but was served barely warm, and the mealy tomato slice was the size of... More

It goes to prove that good location pays. If it were not for this surely Saltwater would have closed years ago? I hate to criticize independent restaurants but if ever one deserved it this is the one. Chef Rolf who obviously sees himself as a local celebrity would be well advised to read some of the reviews on Tripadvisor. Maybe... More

Thought we had been here before so we stopped. Wasn't what we thought it was. Overpriced, slow and sporadic service. She crab soup was not that good, shrimp was over breaded and we were really not impressed. Receipt states "Thank you for dining with area's friendliest restaurant" that was not our experience by a long shot.

I've eaten there a few times over the past decade. It has the potential to be a great place to dine, but never quite hits the ball outta the park. One time it was an order that didn't go in to the kitchen resulting in a l-o-n-g wait. Not a good way to impress visiting family! Another time a gluten... More

We had a few extra days to kill after a business trip to Orlando, Fl, so decided to to explore a town we had not been to before - after seeing reviews on Trip Advisor for Venice, Fl Arrived after 7:pm and hungry for dinner. The Saltwater Cafe was suggested to us as close and had good seafood. Wouldn't eat... More

While the food is OK, the place is always crowded and for what it is, it is quite expensive. Many other restaurants in the area that are a better value and have much better ambiance.
