Pleasantly surprised

My husband and I dined at mama Leones and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves We didn't expect it to be so good. We were seated by an unfriendly gentleman who we were happy wasn't our waiter. My wife found a bug in her salad. She felt she should tell management. They responded," it's FL and bugs are everywhere". We are in our 60s lived on both coasts eat out all the time never had bugs in our food.

The décor is great, they greet you with a smile and seat you in a timely manor. We were promptly attended to our waitress asked for our drink order, (that's important to me, I like to relax and read the menu with a drink). We were asked what dressing we wanted on our salads and we both asked for Caesar... More

As a native Chicagoan, I am picky about pizza. Mama Leone's is the best I have found in the Venice-Nokomis area. Understand that finding good pizza in Florida has proven to be a challenge, but one I have been actively perusing for some time. Also, let me make it clear that good pizza in Florida does not equal good pizza... More

Everything from pizza to Italian specialties. Large bar area, great electric guitar/piano music; went the first time for a great Greek style

We had a wonderful dining experience. The food was excellent and the service was even better! Since this is the first review I have left for a restaurant in my area, I wanted to note that it is so worthy. The pricing is very affordable and they even take reservations! Can't say enough.

We frequent Mama Leones at least three times per month as the service, ambiance and quality of the dining experience is second to none in the area. From the incredible pizza to the best bolognase I have ever tasted (besides my wifes), each meal is five star. We are close enough to enjoy take out often, and the same quality... More

Went with another couple for Happy Hour with specials on both drinks and dinner. Were pleasantly surprised with their menus. The hot bread was so good. Every one had a different pasta special, while one had the pizza. All our dinners were great, and also come with a salad. It was nice to make reservations for best seating, big rooms... More

Party of 5 adults. We arrived at 9pm and they close at 10pm. They were very welcoming. Hot bread arrived right away. House Chardonnay was nice. I had the stuffed shells which were good. Shells stuffed with seasoned ricotta and covered with marinara with parmesan cheese. Wife had a cheese pizza which was also good. The crust was crisp and... More

We visited during Happy Hour which entitled us to double pours of wine. They also have a varied happy hour menu which we ordered. There was plenty of food to satisfy us. The food was fine; not great, but certainly not bad at all. Our waiter wasn't terribly personable but was attentive enough.
