The setting is great - you can eat on the street amid the action or in a more refined interior dining room. The seafood was really good and service was wonderful.

I always make sure and dine at A Fish Called Avalon whenever I'm in Miami. Having stumbled upon it at the advice of a cabbie my last trip to Miami after one restaurant wouldn't let me doctor client in wearing shorts, I made sure to take my husband to dinner there before a night of bar-hopping in SoBe. Although it... More

Had an excellent meal and our server, Orlando, was outstanding. Try the grilled octopus. We'll be back.

I am spoiled because I am from the Northeast and we have great seafood. I stopped into Avalon with my wife for dinner. For an appetizer we had "new England clam chowder", it was good. We also had the escargot. I love escargot and have never had it prepared quite like this, in a puff pastry. It was different and... More

I really liked this place. If you sit outside, you get a great show from just watching the people go by. The food was very very good. I had a salad and the bang bang shrimp - amazing shrimp. (It was an appetizer, but, well, I wanted dessert:)) My husband had the crab cake which was THE best that either... More

Wonderful food and great service. Such a nice change from some of the pretentious Miami restaurants that act like they are doing you favor by taking your money!

We chose A fish called Avalon because it was the only restaurant on Ocean Drive where the girl standing out front didn't hassle us to look at the menu. The hassling down on Ocean drive is awful, it has the reverse effect in that it stopped us looking at their menus! When we approached a Fish called Avalon, we were... More

We ate here on a wednesday night on the recommendation of the hotel concierge. We ended up there early and got a seat outdoors right along the sidewalk. As always, the South Beach street scene is a spectacle to itself, but I digress. My appetite was realtively modest so I had the ceasar salad and the seared ahi. Not particuarly... More

Excellent food, service, presentation and ambience. An evening out together in South Beach turned out to be more memorable than expected. This menu has a good range of food and the waiter was insightful and thoughtful in guiding selection. Good wine list too. Outdoor seating provided a great view of the passing walkers without invading our personal space. We recommend... More

Our hotel's concierge recommended this restaurant. Our meal started well with a complimentary plate of garlicky hummus. The drinks were well done. I had the Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer which was flavorful, but not great--except by comparison to the main dish. I ordered the special of the day--a pistachio crusted pompano with mushroom risotto and vegetables. I generally appreciate large... More
