Great al fresco dining

My girl friend and I recently are here while visiting south beach. The tuna appetizer and escargot were excellent. We split the paella which was full of delicious seafood. Wash it down with a mojito while enjoying the people watching on Ocean Drive.

My wife and I stop for an evening lunch. The waiter was super. Get answered our question and refill our drinks promptly. I had the shrimp scampi Provençal. The shrimp were very large. It was almost like eating lobster. My wife had the scallop dish. Both were beautiful done. I would recommend the Resturant to my friends.

I really wanted to love this place, but I just couldn't. I don't mind paying $200 for a special dinner with my wife but the food was just average. I really enjoyed the live music, and the service was good (not great). We had the octopus, seafood risotto, and grouper. The octopus was very good and the risotto was fine.... More

We got a table through the ebullient Jorge- the concierge at the Avalon Hotel ( where it is located ) and the experience was a pleasure from start to finish. We had attentive and knowledgeable service from Rolando , the fish is fresh and we had grouper and swordfish. The tuna tartare is amazing !

The food here was exceptional but I gave it 4 stars due to the location. We had a tough time getting to the restaurant due to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. We wanted to eat outside and enjoy the South Beach scene. Instead, it was nerve racking with cars blowing horns and a steady flow of people coming from the beach... More

I had a lovely dinner last Friday with a dear friend of mine at A Fish Called Avalon. We decided to eat inside because of the heat. Like many restaurants I would suspect in Miami it is quite noisy. It’s a busy vibrant city. There was a big birthday in the main dining room which made it harder to have... More

Absolutely one of the best meals we ever shared, and very romantic. We had a great salad, loaded with veggies and chopped fine, then the seafood risotto. Incredible. And the best mojito and caipirinha ever.

...But, got a good rate at hotel and had 3 for dinner. The 18% auto tip is annoying but it was good chow.

Dear Guest, Thank you for dining at A Fish Called Avalon, and for sharing that you enjoyed our tasty cuisine. Apologies for the gratuity-included policy that’s standard on South Beach, a result of the high number of international visitors to our area. I commend you on having snagged a great hotel rate and trust that, all in all, your Miami... More

We enjoyed the meal we had at A Fish Called Avalon last year, so we went again this year. The food and the service were excellent. AFCA is very different from the string of noisy restaurant between 7th and 12th Avenues. The others are crowded and play super-loud techno music. AFCA has live music and a much more gracious atmosphere.... More
