Description: Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink is a showcase for the cuisine of Chef/Owner...
Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink is a showcase for the cuisine of Chef/Owner Michael Schwartz, with prices designed to encourage frequent dining. This unpretentious bistro seats 90 indoors and out, with another 14 seats at a handsome bar. Doubling as a casual neighborhood dining spot and a culinary destination, the bright, airy space in Miami’s evolving Design District showcases Schwartz’s trademark new American cuisine at prices designed to encourage frequent dining. Open daily for lunch and dinner, the menu is chock full of choices encouraging everything from a light bite to a multi-course feast. A quick glance at the menu and Michael's intentions for this restaurant are revealed. Notable is the frequency of the word homemade in the descriptions of dishes -- be it pasta, French fries or rabbit terrine. At the same time, Michael's takes advantage of the Chef’s decades-long relationships with winemakers to offer diners the opportunity to try a variety of wines at great value.

Very Good! Highly Recommend

Very good ambient in the heart of the design district. While they arrange a table for you, you can have a walk outside. The waiters are very friendly and the food is great. I think you should risk getting a diferent plate that you generally order on common places. Do that with out no fear and you... read more

Design district location, dinner on a Tuesday night outside. Struggled with menu and what came out was quite mixed in quality. Apps were outstanding, mains all over the road, desserts outstanding. Service seemed slow and server dealing with a lot of tables or else inefficient not sure which. Appeals to people who want to linger over several drinks before dinner... More

We just touched down in Miami, went to the Miami Design District, the valet recommended Michael's. We were seated quickly, even though the restaurant was busy. We ordered the oyster, shaved salad and the bucatini. Thumbs up for the homemade pasta, truly delicious. Meanwhile the rest of the meal were good but nothing truly special.

Try the oysters, beer, salads, entrees- try everything because everything is fabulous! Caution, there are smokers at outside tables.

We were in Design District and there did not seem to have that many places to eat. We decided to give MGFD a chance because we heard a lot about it and it is right in the middle of Design District. We made a reservation through Open table at 1:45 pm , and when we went there it were seated... More

First thing, do reserve in advance; it is usually crowded. I have been there several times in the last few years, every time I travel to Florida. Food (always fresh), service and atmosphere are flawless and for a competitive price. I highly recommend this place.

this is an example of what is good in american restaurants: it serves good, interesting, well prepared food without taking itself seriously. it anchors a once fairly desolate area somewhat close to the airport, now an area of very high end stores. it is casual, with an interesting, eclectic mix of diners. Hard to beat.

My wife and I went this restaurant on a friend's recommendation. The service was impeccable and the food even better. We shared the mussels as an appetizer. I then had the pork shoulder which melted in your mouth and my wife had the short ribs. Finished off with a tangerine creamcicle. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to foodies.

We sat outside and the place was nice and service very good. They really use fresh ingredients and the food was pretty good. Only the duck confit overcooked (dry). The ceviche from the table next to us looked very good too. The only "but" is the price, but when you see what's going on in the area, you understand it.

Loved every dish. Just a wonderful experience from beginning to end. We arrived 15 minutes early and were seated without hesitation. We had a table inside near the window. We enjoyed our server who was really attentive without being intrusive. He helped us navigate our small and medium plate choices and parings. The food was amazing! The Pork belly is... More
