Description: Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink is a showcase for the cuisine of Chef/Owner...
Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink is a showcase for the cuisine of Chef/Owner Michael Schwartz, with prices designed to encourage frequent dining. This unpretentious bistro seats 90 indoors and out, with another 14 seats at a handsome bar. Doubling as a casual neighborhood dining spot and a culinary destination, the bright, airy space in Miami’s evolving Design District showcases Schwartz’s trademark new American cuisine at prices designed to encourage frequent dining. Open daily for lunch and dinner, the menu is chock full of choices encouraging everything from a light bite to a multi-course feast. A quick glance at the menu and Michael's intentions for this restaurant are revealed. Notable is the frequency of the word homemade in the descriptions of dishes -- be it pasta, French fries or rabbit terrine. At the same time, Michael's takes advantage of the Chef’s decades-long relationships with winemakers to offer diners the opportunity to try a variety of wines at great value.

reserve a table outside and enjoy--the menu changes constantly (everything I've had is superb), food and drink menu are well curated and fresh, there's a lot of thought that goes into it. It's always a refreshing and pleasant experience. Personal fav is the chilequiles!

In addition to being in the Design District surrounded by only beautiful stores, this restaurant has a very eclectic menu: pasta, seafood, meats, poultry, vegetables, etc. Very good wine selection. The bar is located in the center of the restaurant so if you happen to be sitting there you are in the middle of the action literally. Service is very... More

Parking anywhere in Miami is challenging but no need to find it when you can valet! Its cheap and cheerful for a start. They take reservations but its really open seating on patio and by the bar where the service was great. Enjoyed stone crab. Delicious pizza, cevice, duck confit and nice wine by the glass. All great quality in... More

Chef Michael Schwartz's philosophy is a winner: the freshest and masterfully selected ingredients, artistic recipes and technically perfect execution make this restaurant one of Miami’s top ten. The setting is cool and relaxed; don’t expect the same level as the food. Service is attentive (and hectic since it is always full). Pricing is well balanced between the food high quality... More

The past couple of visit's to Michael's have been somewhat disappointing, especially since over the years we had always held Michael's as the gold standard for comparing food, service and ambiance from other restaurants. I think Michael's is the victim of lack of attention from its owner, who definitely knows how to create a thoroughly enjoyable dinner experience. There has... More

All food was excellent. We sat at bar w 2 bartenders working as a team and enjoyable and engaging!! Then, our waiter Scott!! What a guy!!! His helpers again all team effort. Scott fun adds to the night. Appetizers: deviled eggs, ceviche, potatoe chips and cheese appetizer-each excellent. I know it adds up cost wise but it's just too good... More

I really don't understand all the hype regarding the food here. I wouldn't say the food is bad, necessarily, but I would say it's mediocre (in my opinion). The ambiance, however, IS worth the hype. We had a late lunch at around 3pm. Ordered the crispy pig ears (as per numerous rave reviews online as well as on TV) and... More

We are one o0f Michael's first customers here and big fans until last night. Signature dish, whole fish, not available. Lamb arrives raw; steak arrives tiny and dark grey. Two of four dishes had to be sent back! Server almost invisible. Had to ask for bread and butter. Had to get up to find the maitre'd to have him find... More
