Under Our Radar (Not Any More)

Despite vacationing in the area for several years (and eating out a lot) we didn't hear of Sandy Hook until invited there for lunch by friends. Our loss ! We ate here on a Sunday afternoon. Other days they are just open for dinner. The dining room looks out over the water. Service was prompt... read more

Great fun place, nice water view. We were disappointed in the oysters and the management did everything they could do make sure our experience was good. Great attentive staff.

You can't go wrong while visiting Matlacha if you eat at the Sandy Hook. Great/fresh food and friendly & helpful service and the surroundings and decor was very outstanding...a bit of old Florida at great prices.

Rarely does a restaurant live up to memories of past visits, but this one does. Began with a very good pina colada during a short wait for a table. Yes, the onion rings are bigger than raised doughnuts -- plus they are tasty. Unfortunately, could only eat one...and still have room for dinner. A half order of six onion rings... More

Good food and an open atmosphere. We had a stone crab appetizer, fish tacos, and a seafood platter (talapia, shrimp, scallops), and everything was very good. The staff was friendly and prompt (promptness has been a rarity on this trip), and the view of the water was great.

My husband caught ocean trout and we weren't about to have to cook them ourselves. Our guide told us about Sandy Hook. We brought them in and they said they would cook them any of the ways they did their fish. We chose the Key Lime version and were not disappointed. It was very unique and delicious. They charged a... We five ate here this evening for dinner. We each had something different and everything was very good. The portions are very generous. We all brought home leftovers. We were also served two small loaves of bread with dinner. Our server was superb! She was very friendly and attentive. We never wanted for anyone. I would definitely recommend this place!!... More

It's not fancy, but rather a fun, noisy restaurant on the water. The food is excellent. Ten of us went for a friend's birthday and the service was terrific. The cracked conch was delicious as was the prime rib, the ribs, the crab legs....everyone has a fabulous meal.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the birthday party. I may be wrong but this sounds like Mickey's table! We are lucky to have the chance to serve all of our wonderful customers! More

We got here later in the evening, and all of the specials were sold out. I ordered fried shrimp off of the menu - they were OK, but nothing memorable. My brother ordered ribs, and again, nothing to write home about. We did order the onion rings as an appetizer - these were great - and huge. The cheeseburger soup... More

So sorry we ran out of the special you were wanting. We try to prepare enough to last the whole night but you never know how many will sell. Most nights we don't run out, but I can't guarantee we won't. Hope to see you soon. Make sure you ask for Nicole when you come in! More
