If this is number 5, the first four must be world-class

The parking lot is extremely hard to find, and both Mapquest and a GPS were defeated. Follow the directions on the restaurant website. The short ride to the island is by a shabby motor launch operated by an all-too-chatty coxswain with an all-too-conspicuous tip jar. But, once you're there... read more

I'm surprised by reviews saying they didn't care for the food or it was over priced. My friend ordered oyster's rockefeller and they came out on a big platter and still brought one more out that wouldn't fit. The oysters were huge and they tasted great! All our meals were very good. (the clam linguinie was super) We had been... More

We were disappointed in our recent visit here. We were trying to find some place local and out of the ordinary to go to while on vacation. While it did meet those criteria, we were disappointed with the food, atmosphere and cost of the restaurant. The food was mediocre at best and way overpriced - $3.50 for a small soft... More

In our approximately 10 years of coming here, it has always been a highlight that we save for our last night. This year the launch had a new captain, Captain Johnny. He was informative & friendly, a welcome change from the previous stoic captain. Things were starting off well. We were early so had time to stop in the bar... More

Such a neat experience! Just finding the parking lot is an adventure- its in a residential neighborhood. The boat ride is fun and the captian gives you a little bit of history. The place is so old and cute- old Florida fabulous. The food was delicious. I had some sort of flaky white fish with a mango salsa type thing... More

My family and I (wife and 2 kids) ate here the last week of March, 2012. We made a reservation online on their website for a 5:30 seating the day of our visit. There's a little boat that takes you to the restaurant (a 3-4 minute ride) and when you walk up you think "Oh boy, what have I done..this... More

After short boat ride from dock to island restuarant we enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. Our waiter was most helpful. We had waited to take my 87 year old father in las to this old Florida landmark. He had never been even after lining in the area for sixty plus years and had expressed interest in trying it our.... Fantastic. If you like great seafood and are not attracted to the strip mall restaurants in FL. Caps will not disapoint. Love the historical photos of the family who started Caps back in the prohibition years and smuggled rum on to caps Isle. There is nothing flashy or foo foo. Dress casual and take it all in. Can't wait to... More

I had been to Cap's Place several times, but several years ago. We stopped going because they no longer served one of the dishes preferred by a picky family member. Even though I read mostly negative reviews, I still thought it would be a fun night out. IT WAS HORRIBLE. I called for a reservation, and was met with abrupt... More
