If you want to enjoy great seafood in a great spot on the water and enjoy seeing Florida like it was back in the late 1920's and 30's, you will want to experience Cap's Place. We lived in the Ft. Lauderdale area for almost 2 years back in 2001 & 2002 and we did not know about the restaurant. We... More

Party of 8 for dinner and the consensus was that the food was mediocre and over-priced considering the quality. Rustic, quaint, and certainly historic, good service. Park and take the ferry provided. Nice adventure over-all, but found the food a bit disappointing.

This is the fourth time I visited this historic restaurant built about 1928 and boasts guests from Winston Churchill to Al Capone and many others. Google the history to get you started. You take a very short ride on a water ferry to the island and our fish and crab was the best we've ever had anywhere. Our waitress Emma... More

Old fashioned seafood restaurant. You can get their by car; but the biggest draw is the boat ride.. It's a historic setting. I had Tillapia, vegetables, house salad, and ice tea. cost $$$.

We stumbled into this place by looking at Google Maps. What an experience, probably the highlight of our trip. If nothing else the history and building are worth the visit. We were very surprised how great the food was, even the kids meal! The crab cakes were amazing, full of crab meat. Highly recommended!

I've been to Cap's Place on three separate occasions and this time was by far the best. It may have been because the first two times I went with one other person and this last time I went with a party of eight. It seems as though part of the fun is experiencing this place with a group of friends.... More

Legend has is that Big Al used Cap's Place as his alibi during the St. Valentine's Day Massacre. It's old rustic and very original. You literally step back in time. The bar is run down and the restaurant is a barrack. You can only get there by boat or ferry (from the lighthouse Pt. marina) because there's no where to... More

This Restaurant may have fascinating History but that is about all it has going for it. The Food was very mediocre at best. The boat ride over was nice, the bar had some interesting pieces of History. I did not really consider the setting a view worthy of the Exorbitant prices they charge for their food and drinks. I ordered... More

A very fascinating rustic restaurant and bar that has been a Florida destination for decades. Our cousins were visiting from Finland and we chose this restaurant because we wanted to take them somewhere special. It is a little difficult to get to because you have to take a ferry/water taxi to the restaurant. The water taxi across the intercoastal was... More

Overpriced for the food and experience. Besides the novelty of a boat ride to an old structure with no view, and poorly maintained, everything else was forgettable at best. The staff was, in some cases not friendly and in others, not helpful. The food itself, although not bad, was definitely not worth the price. Best described as bland and on... More
