If you are looking for a great meal---Cap's is Not the place to go. Very romantic to board a boat for a short trip to the restaurant. It is an old "speakeasy" on water. Food is less than average, and the price will knock the socks off of you.Only thing thats worse, is the price of watered down drinks. The service... More

I have been to this restaurant many times over the years and I'm always pleased. Last Wednesday I brought some from friends from Panama and France to enjoy Cap's unique dining experience. We started with the short boat trip to the island restaurant with Captain Bob who mans the boat on Wednesdays. Our enthusiastic server Melissa made some suggestions for... More

The best part of the visit was the short boat ride. The decor is very interesting, but the food was only average. What ended it for us were their prices. $13 dollar martinis? Both entrees were $35 each. I told the woman who appeared to be the manager that their drink prices rivaled NYC and were overpriced. She said, "That's... More

If you want to enjoy great seafood in a great spot on the water and enjoy seeing Florida like it was back in the late 1920's and 30's, you will want to experience Cap's Place. We lived in the Ft. Lauderdale area for almost 2 years back in 2001 & 2002 and we did not know about the restaurant. We... More

Party of 8 for dinner and the consensus was that the food was mediocre and over-priced considering the quality. Rustic, quaint, and certainly historic, good service. Park and take the ferry provided. Nice adventure over-all, but found the food a bit disappointing.

This is the fourth time I visited this historic restaurant built about 1928 and boasts guests from Winston Churchill to Al Capone and many others. Google the history to get you started. You take a very short ride on a water ferry to the island and our fish and crab was the best we've ever had anywhere. Our waitress Emma... More

Old fashioned seafood restaurant. You can get their by car; but the biggest draw is the boat ride.. It's a historic setting. I had Tillapia, vegetables, house salad, and ice tea. cost $$$.

We stumbled into this place by looking at Google Maps. What an experience, probably the highlight of our trip. If nothing else the history and building are worth the visit. We were very surprised how great the food was, even the kids meal! The crab cakes were amazing, full of crab meat. Highly recommended!

I've been to Cap's Place on three separate occasions and this time was by far the best. It may have been because the first two times I went with one other person and this last time I went with a party of eight. It seems as though part of the fun is experiencing this place with a group of friends.... More

Legend has is that Big Al used Cap's Place as his alibi during the St. Valentine's Day Massacre. It's old rustic and very original. You literally step back in time. The bar is run down and the restaurant is a barrack. You can only get there by boat or ferry (from the lighthouse Pt. marina) because there's no where to... More
