Had the fish filet and it was a huge amount with grilled onions but no sauce of any kind. A cup of black beans, a large bowl of rice and fried plantains , too much for lunch portion.

Really crowded so it must be popular. Lots of local Cuban people eating there, which likely means it's pretty authentic. The Cuban sandwich was average. One of our group thought the pork was delicious, the other thought the pork was greasy. The mahi mahi was outstanding.

Elena's Cuban Café 2246 E Edgewood Drive Lakeland, FL 33803 We met a family member here for lunch today (12/6/13). We all three ordered the ‘chicken and yellow rice’ which came with black beans as a side and a small drink. Cost about $7.75 with a drink. I’ll give the yellow rice and black beans a ‘good’; however none of... More

Cuban sandwich disappointing. Panini with deli-ham, cheese, pickles & mustard that could have been from any sandwich shop. Service a bit surly.

The only authentic Cuban food in Lakeland. The only thing they are missing is breakfast. Food is so wonderfully tasty. The shirt steak is the kind that even after you're done and full, you want more. Black beans are tasty and you have to make room for the flan. It's right up there with mine, and I was thought from... More

I have been here a few times and there is so much food I can eat on it for days. You could split their meals with a few people.

If you go to Lakeland at lunch time, expect to eat some fast food or (worse) be invited to lunch at one of the country clubs (where pretentious locals eat things I wouldn't feed my dog). It's a dining desert for sure. Elena's is the exception. Its freshly prepared, authentic Cuban food is fantastic. Best bets--anything on the specials menu,... More

I work nearby and have eaten here many times. I almost always get the chicken and rice with plantains. It's is yummy and filling. The service is also always good.

Elena's best attribute is that the food is consistently average. You will never be surprised with a bad order. The ropa vieja is delish. The Cuban sandwich is average, and doesn't come near the level of excellence of the Cuban Delights Cafe. The prices are very reasonable. Black beans and rice are good, but, again, the best is at Delights.... More

I go by Elana's often. They have the best Cuban sandwiches in town. The black beans and rice is great too. Order the congri. It's black beans and rice mixed together. The beef empanadas are great too. Eat inside or go through their drive thru which is convenient for lunch breaks. Highly recommend this place!
