My Favorite Marathon Breakfast

I have been going to the Spoon for 25 years and it is still a favorite spot. The place is Traditional Keys in appearance and atmosphere which is reason enough to see it before somebody buys it and ruins the feel and the food. Usually full of locals mixed in with tourists. Great place to load... read more

My husband has a knack for finding little hole-in-the-wall places to eat, and while in Marathon he spotted The Wooden Spoon. Hungry for breakfast we decided to try it out. It is a very small area for seating but we were able to find a seat at a table - they also have a bar you can sit at if... More

This is quite the diner experience. It was crowded but didn't take long to get a table. The wait staff scurried around and kept things moving. We enjoyed typical diner breakfast fare that was tasty and satisfying. I'd recommend it to others in search of a no-frills breakfast.

Had breakfast with my husband at the Wooden Spoon. The food was good and low-priced (which I'm always a big fan of!) but the seating was a little tight. We ended up sharing a table with another couple - but it wasn't awkward or anything. The staff were courteous and always quick to offer a refill of coffee. Was a... More

We were headed home and wanted something different than the hotel buffet. The Wooden Spoon hit the spot - the place is small and we were lucky not to have to wait long. I had a typical bacon and egg breakfast, and it was delicious. My family eyed what others were eating, and we placed a late order for their... More

Staff were attentive, food was good, though a very busy place at breakfast time, wait time was not long for our food..

Was really surprised stopping in here for breakfast today. It was like walking into a 1950 New Jersey diner. Right out of the past. The place was packed and the waitresses were working at high speed to wait on everyone. This is not a high end place to eat but we were very pleased with the meal. Pancakes were excellent... More

You can't go wrong if you want a great breakfast. The building has been there forever and was famous for the excellent take out box lunches to go out on boat's. Ted and Mary were some early pioneers in the shallow water fishing They were the owner's then and the new owner's have keep the reputation going

We ate here for breakfast on 3/21/15 based on great Trip Advisor reviews. A friendly but very rushed waitress greeted us and we were seated right away. The place was packed. If you like a local, 'grungy diner' this is for you. We witnessed people being seated at tables that were never wiped. The floors were old and dirty and... More

The place wad hopping. We sat at the counter and were greeted right away by Lisa. It truly was an orchestra between the waitresses, grill cook and the back kitchen. We had chicken fried steak with sausage gravy. The chicken was so tender you could cut it with your fork, the gravy was from heaven and the potatoes are awesome... More
