A bit pretentious, but good food

We had a pleasant meal while sitting on the porch. The choices were a cross between sushi and standard Key seafood fare. We chose the special which offered three different types of fish and the hog fish. They offer a variety of ways for the seafood to be cooked. It was very good, but not... read more

What else can I say? I've been dining at Kaiyo's for over a decade, and they have never failed to impress. Their white tuna always tastes as if it were caught five minutes before you order it. And their Sake Mojitos? Watch out...they will sneak up on you!!!

We were there last September in 2014...it had come highly recommended, but for me it was just okay...and of course, not inexpensive...The ambiance is simply, which is fine..but the food was just okay...wish I could say more...

We went for dinner at Kaiyos and found the food to be excellent. My husband had a miso soup for starters, but I skipped that course. For mains I had a dish called Drunken Scallops which was delicious...5 scallops in a bacon and onion sauce with yummy lobster mash and root vegetables perfectly cooked. Yes it is expensive at $35... Everything we ordered was fantastic. The Grouper Cheek appetizer was super tasty. The catch of the day was Triple Tail, stuffed with Crab meat. Again, delicious. Service was very nice too. Highly recommend.

Our family loves sushi!! First visit to Islamorada and we went to Kaiyo. We weren't disappointed at all. We also had a fish entree and it was amazing!!!

While the food was well prepared and presented, I was disappointed that we were not allowed to make substitutions for sides that we did not like...at least, not without an upcharge. I guess some chefs are more concerned about ruining the presentation of their plates rather than providing a quality dining experience that is pleasing to the customer.

We loved this place. Sat at the Sushi bar and enjoyed a great dinner. Had the sunrise sunset roll and tuna tataki. Both excellent. Had entertaining conversations with the staff as they prepared our dishes. Service was excellent and friendly. We will be back and would recommend.
