I've have traveled the world and dined at many fine restuarants, and Chanticleer ranks among the best. The food is haute cuisine, the service is very personal. The resturant is small and intimate. This is for that special dinner. We love it. more

When you visit Islamorada you do need the island experience. A good sunburn, a fish sandwich on the beach, a couple dozen rum runners and a bad hangover. After you've had your fill of raegae music, conch fritters and frozen drinks, take a nap, put on clean clothes (and shoes) and treat yourself to a sublime meal at Chanticleer South.... more

My husband and I spend every winter in Islamorada and are thrilled to have Chanticleer South at our doorstep. The food is unfailingly fresh and is individually and beautifully prepared by Chef Jean-Charles. There is always fresh local seafood on the menu as well as more traditional French entrees. These are accompanied by a short, and reasonably priced wine list.... more

We had dinner there in Feb 2007. It was the best dinner we had on our Keys trip. The food was excellent with great sauces. The atmosphere was casual as you would want in the keys. The chef after dinner gave us a tour of the kitchen. the whole experience was excellent. more

We had an unexpectedly poor dining experience at Chanticleer South this evening. There were a few good dishes on the menu but the majority were mediocre. The duck was very salty and tough, and the vegetarian plates (ordered in advance) were simply steamed vegetables - a very poor showing for an expensive French restaurant. When there was a problem with... more

My husband lived in France for 7 years. He loves this place. It is the a French Resturant that does not try to Americanize the food. Love food in Lyon. especially the old French love the Chanticleer. more

Chanticleer South MM 81.6 Islamorada, FL The Keys 305-664-0640 Nowhere are the changes overtaking the Keys more evident than at this minuscule, finely appointed restaurant in Islamorada. For twenty years the space was occupied by Manny & Isa’s, known for its homey Cuban fare and key lime pie. Now the chef and proprietor is transplanted Nantucket restaurateur Jean-Charles Berruet, who... more

If you are looking to spend your money on an upscale, gourmet restaurant, avoid Chanticleer South. We had dinner their twice, thinking perhaps the first time was just a fluke. The second time was just as bad. Spend your money at Pierre's. The prices are about the same, but your will get exceptional food, service and ambience at Pierres. more
