went in here cause we heard this was the place for a steak, dont know if it was an off day but service was sparse and meal was at best mediocre. I dont get it. oh and it was very costly, oh well
The food we ate (escargo, tuna steak, and rib eye) really was good. We didn't enjoy the creme brulee so much, a little over torched. We were just disappointed that the check total was twice what we paid at other Islamorada area restaurants where we had just as good/comparable meals. They do a good job offering upscale service...placement of appropriate... More
When you enter this restaurant ask the greeter to seat in the section on the left. That is where most diners enjoy people watching as well as great hamburgers. The central section is given over to the 'sportsbar' enthusiasts and is a hive of lively activity. The right side is for quiet contemplation and for those who want to be... More
The portions were enormous and the food was great. However, the price was way beyond reasonable for what we received. We ordered decaf coffee and what we received seemed to be instant.
I ordered Specialty of the night dish. Pork ribs had foul smell. I know that wasn't from the way they cook them. It is from the meat itself. That is from a certain kind of pig which is used for breeding only. With that high-end price, they must control quality of materials. Here is the worst part... i was surprised... More
First of all - I would characterize this primarily as a fine dining steakhouse with a good seafood selection. The portions are soooo enormous, we all agreed that if we were to come back (which we would) we would share not only the massive appetizers, but salads and entrees as well. My medallions of beef were fork tender and I... More
We went there because we had heard it was a pretty good place. It was over priced, the portions to so small, it would have taken three to make a meal. It wasn't prepared correctly and it was HORRID
Our server was very cute and attentive. The food was good from the alligator appetizer through desert. The steaks are very good, especially if you like rib eyes. That's what they are famous for. My wife regretted ordering seafood in a steak place.
Ziggy and Mad Dogs is a "must do" restaurant whenever we are around Islamorada. The food is consistently good. On our most recent visit our table shared a wedge salad and a poached pear and pecan salad. We moved on to entrees with the seared sea scallops, grilled duck breast, and the lobster mac and cheese. Everything was outstanding. I... More
Although the food was a decent departure from the typical local fare, the overall was a disappointment. Many tables were empty but we were told we could sit at a high top in the bar or wait 30 minutes. Our waitress seemed uneducated about the menu and how dishes were prepared. Food was decent but not worth the price even... More
