Fun, historical place

This is all about the history and a decent drink. The decor, the ambience and the general vibe as well as the history of the location make this a must stop destination.

Captain Tony's saloon is the place to visit if you are a Buffet fan. Oldest place in Key West, with lots of history. If you know the song Jimmy sings about Capt. Tony, then you know what I mean. Entertainment all day. Decor is made up of what was left behind by years of visitors. From Bras on the ceiling,... More

This is certainly one of your stops in Key West. If not for a drink - to toss a quarter into the fish. Tip: Face the street and throw the quarter over your head and back. Plan on taking some time to get one into the fish. You will have to pick up a bunch of missed quarters.

How can you travel to Key West and not go to Capt. Tony's? Unique atmosphere located right in the middle of all the action. Always live music and the coldest beer around. If you pass this place up you are crazy!

This was a great bar. The staff was nice and the ambiance was fun! You definitely need to add it to your list of bars.

This is where Jimmy Buffett got his start and where Hemingway first drank in Key West (not sure as Sloppy Joes also makes this claim). Regardless this is a great dive bar. If you have read my reviews you know I like dive bars (see Erin Rose, NOLA). Ian the bartender is really friendly and one of the best mannered... More

Not much has changed at Captain Tony's since our last visit or for the last 10 years for that matter. It's a unique bar with an interesting past. They most always have entertainment that are always interacting with the customers. We stop often to wind down after being out on the town or get started as we head out on... More

I really wanted to love this place... Walking in it has a great dive bar feel, but the singer both times I went was awful. The drink selection was really small they had 2 beers on draft Bud Light and a house red. Worth stopping in because you are in KW and its a landmark but not worth staying longer... More

laid back ... had some good bands playing the nights we went ... tons of stuff on the ceilings to look at and laugh to ... the funniest thing was outside the bar on the wall in a big fish w/ it's mouth open ... people were standing in line to try and see if they could throw coins in... More

Great spot with live entertainment if you like the no frills, dark, dingy atmostphere (which I do). This place was on my ghost tour. I'd stay here after I died too.
