We had dinner here one night looking out on the street and breakfast the next morning on the upstairs patio. Food is good. Crepes are great! Staff are excellent. If you sit at a table by the street get used to the feeling of someone peering over your shoulder since many people stop to read the menu on the wall... More

Thanks for visiting Banana Cafe. You are the first to mention the exterior menu board as an annoyance. These boards are common place among french style bistros and while the board is on the street side exterior wall, it isn't close enough to a table to intrude as you describe unless there were several in the party perhaps? We do... More

As a snow bird, I spend about three months of the year in Key West Florida. Not quite a conch (local) but better informed about the island than a regular tourist! Banana Cafe is my favourite restaurant for lunch. The service is superb (Joe, Emil and Patrice the best servers), the food comes quickly, and the menu options and exciting... More

This is a great restaurant, delicious food and a great pour on a glass of wine! Enjoyed sitting upstairs, outside and enjoying the sun. Will go back and have dinner as we tried it for lunch and loved it. Will try the crepes next time.

Great spot in Key West. Food and service were excellent. French onion soup was exceptional. I ordered the Crispy Duck and my wife had the Coq Au Vin ... both were superb. Total tab with a couple of glasses of wine was $90. Recommended.

We stopped for lunch & had a wonderful tomato omlete, iced tea & iced coffee. You can sit outside or in & enjoy the view of Duval St while dining.

We arrived at 12:30 with a large group of 9 and no reservation. We were promptly seated upstairs. The waiter/bartender was fabulous. We had two guests who had to leave early and they accommodated by bringing their food out quickly. I had the pan bagnat which was superb. Can't wait to go back and explore more of the menu! Don't... Food wasn't the greatest, not able to make substitutions. Coffee and potatoes were lousy, egg omelette looked like fake eggs.

bananakw, Guest Relations Manager at Banana Cafe, responded to this review

Thanks for visiting Banana Cafe. Frequently the reason substitutions are not possible is simply the cost difference between items. Ex: Toast for croissant is not possible as they are very different in cost. There are often items on the menu that are possible, one sauce for another as example. Rest assured our eggs are not only very real, but carefully... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, from our escargot to our bananas flambé we were not disappointed. We had sautéed scallops and catch of the day crepe (a seafood medley ). Perfect. We will go back when in key west. It's out of the way down toward southern most point. Away from the maddening crowd, wonderfully intimate.

We are grateful for your wonderful and comments and for mentioning our team member Lucas. While we are a relatively small bistro guests are frequently pleasantly surprised with our variety of french inspired meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Please come dine with us again. bon appétit, Michael Guest Relations More
