Looks like a dive, but a must visit while in Key West. They have great breakfast food!! Bar is small.
What more can be said about a hole-in-the-wall hideaway that's been around since 1909? It's almost a mandatory stop while in KW, but just don't expect much wow factor here. Quite rushed and indifferent service and uninspired food. I had fresh mahi mahi with asparagus and cornbread, all quite good, but very basic, ordinary preparations. Went for the margarita with... We ate lunch at Pepe's during a recent stay in KW. It was located close to our hotel, not too far off of Duval Street. The atmosphere was very casual and laid-back, and we sat in the small outdoor courtyard. My food (blackended Mahi-Mahi sandwich) and drink (Bloody Mary) was excellent. Everyone else in my group enjoyed their food as... More
Ok so I really wanted to like this place because of the reviews and the cool hideaway/local joint vibe. Didn't happen. Fresh squeezed margaritas were hyped but way too tart with no kick. The entrees were just ok. You will get a much better steak at longhorn and much better sea food at cafe sole. Service was great but the... More
Visit this cozy café for a hearty breakfast and well done eye-openers. The strawberry screwdriver was very good and that day's special--papaya bread toast was tasty! Cons: Our waitress was a mean woman with no sense of humor.
Our shuttle driver suggested Pepe's Cafe to us. It was near where the shuttle drop off point, so we decided to give it a try. When we reached the faded exterior, we were a bit reluctant, but we were more than pleased what we found inside. Daily happy hour fetchers tasty fresh oysters (raw or baked), peal and eat shrimp,... We've always heard to eat breakfast here and we finally did! Hubby and I are not big breakfast eaters, so it's not a big deal to us. We arrived about 11:30 and they were serving breakfast, sot that's what we had even though we were thinking lunch! We both had the specials, coconut/raspberries french toast and a stuffed breakfast burrito.... More
Pepe's makes all their drinks with fresh-squeezed juices. Nothing comes out of the bottle here. Their margaritas are absolutely the best I've ever had! We went on a Weds, which is apparently pasta night, and had a very delicious tile fish on pasta. The sauce was light and absolutely perfect with the fish. You must try the Cuban coffee ice... More
Our group of 7 had a great experience at Pepe's, as usual! The cream cheese and scallion omelette is one of my new favorites, and their bread of the day is always delicious! (Especially the coconut bread!) One of our favorite spots in Key West!
