Disappointing first night in Key Largo

Mediocre food and poorly trained server. We were staying across this street and didn't want to get back in the car. Not worth the walk.

We were in the middle of our very good oversized snapper sandwiches when we heard the people at the next table telling the waitress (who acted like she owned the place and I think her family probably did) that they had travelled from Key Largo to Key West sampling Key Lime Pie all the way -- and that in their... Had a long day of travel so as suggested by Coconut Bay manager, Suzy, we walked across the street to Ballyhoo's for take out. Great conch chowder, fresh salads. Ample portions and friendly staff while we waited for the food to be ready! Would definitely go back for a dine-in experience!

Not cheap, but excellent crabs legs. Went back for a second dinner and the crab salad with mango was just as a great. Worth it! Nice choice of beer and wine. No liquor.

My husband and I ate at Ballyhoo's last year on our last night of vacation and had a great meal. We returned today and enjoyed the Oyster and Shrimp po' boy and the Black Bean Burger, which was one of the best I have eaten. Prices are moderate and Donielle's friendly and efficient service added to a very pleasant experience.... More

Everything we tasted was delicious. I had the lobster--quite reasonable, and my son had the chicken/pasta alfredo. We saved the best for last, with the best key lime pie we had in Key Largo.

The food was ok but quite overpriced. I had the snapper which was excellent. My friend the lobster was undercooked disappointing. There were problems with the hill and only some of which was resolved. Would not go back. View of the busy road.

A classic of the Keys, this place was a great find. We found it listed in our AAA book and took a chance. We were pleased. We ordered off the menu but people at the neighboring table had the "all you can eat" crab. They raved about it and we were impressed with the serving size that kept coming--and with... More

As a vegan, I probably wouldn't have stopped at a seafood place, but this restaurant was great. I can't comment on the regular menu options, but there's a separate vegan/vegetarian menu. Over a couple of visits, we tried the following vegan options: black bean and sweet potato burgers, grilled cheese sandwich, black bean tacos, boiled peanuts, and coconut cake. Everything... More

As an avid traveler and gourmand you always dream about finding the " little gem" were the locals go. I guess I had high expectations for this place , being recommended by a local but I was a bit disappointed. The seafood was ok but this is the Florida Keys so everybody has fresh seafood but my stone crab was... More

Thank you for your review. I am sorry that you were disappointed. We only get fresh Stone Crab and never freeze them. Im not sure what happened there. Please call me at the restaurant, so that I may investigate this further. 305-852-0822 More
