Lunch with local color

I agree with other reviewers that this is a great place to stop on your way to the Keys. It has a sort of bayou biker bar feel, on the water, very laid back. We had good service and the food was tasty with generous portions. Lunch here eases you into the Key's state of mind...

We stopped here to meet a friend on our way back to the FLL airport. What a fun place. Right on the canal and a lot come by boat. Live music at lunch - what a treat. Most food is fried but very good. Great grouper sandwich special. Friendly people.

Alabama Jacks is an institution. It is certainly a 'must stop' if you want that true Keys feel. Is it fancy? Heck no! Is the service slow? It's the Keys...what do you expect! Is the food good? Excellent! I stop at Alabama Jack's frequently...and the only complaints I hear are from the first time Keyser's...or from the 'upper crust' clientele... More

Finally got a chance to stop for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. We shared the combo platter for 2 and my goodness what a feast. Shrimp 2 ways, crab cakes, conch fritters, fish sticks, all cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. Well worth the side trip and far exceeds any meal we have ever had while in the keys!!!

Having read of this place in several guide books, I decided to take the back way to the mainland after a vacation in the keys. Our group of 4 was lucky enough to get a table overlooking the water. The service was slow, but who cares, with that view. Our meal (lunch) was quite tasty. and our server very friendly... More

I was very unhappy with the service here. Sat at a table close to the kitchen door and never had a server even acknowledge me. Then when a server sat down two tables from me and started counting her tip money without even giving me a menu that was the last straw and I left. My wife and I will... More

What a neat place out in the middle of nowhere - great atmosphere and excellent menu for a fun filled lunchtime place with live music. It is an extremely busy restaurant and clearly everyone else who visited there thought it was going to be worth the drive - and it is! Recommend!

Great out of the way no frills place. Our server was Luscious(seriously that was her name, Lushy for short) excellent service. We had conch fritters a blackened dolphin and it was nummmmies, highly recommend this place. Bill was $42 and left a $10 tip and wish had left a couple more bucks!!!!

We stopped here for lunch on our drive to Key West. We loved it! Good food, great service, fun atmosphere, live music, lots of local character. We wanted to stay all day. Definitely worth a visit.

What a nice place to start out a venture to the keys. It’s kind of out of the way and off the beaten path on Card Sound Rd, but worth the side trip. The environment is an open venue with great views of nature and the water. The place was packed and had to wait for seating but ended up... More
