Headed out on a Monday night to another restaurant and found it to be closed. And that was a "stroke of good luck" because we had a delicious dinner at Backfin Blue. We both chose entrees from the evening specials: she had tilapia with a crab cake and I had mahi-mahi topped with 4 or 5 jumbo shrimp with a... More

The food is always great. Very eclectic. Their prime rib is excellent. My husband and I try to make this our New Years Eve dinner place.

Enjoyed a quick dinner here. Great selection of appetizer, salads, and entrees. Our group took two tables across from one another, and we all found something yummy. The crab cakes were wonderful.

We ate outside, it was very nice - we shared our plates and everything was delicious! Great wait staff, too.

I live in Gulfport so this restaurant is very close. Its setting is quaint and a bit rustic. You can eat inside in a somewhat confined area or outside on the larger porch. If you chose the porch be prepared to be eaten by mosquitoes. Except for the crabcakes (which are very good) the food is average. Service is also... More

This is a hard review bc usually I either love a place or hate it. I loved loved loved one thing here but hated the rest. My family and I ordered all different things. Our waiter was a very unfriendly man. Our food took the longest time ANY restaurant has ever taken to come out. It took about an hour,... More

This is the second year in a row we've eaten here. Their edamame salad is to die for as is their corn/crab chowder.

We had a gathering of 30 family members to celebrate my Uncle's birthday at the Backfin Blue Cafe. We enjoyed our dinners outside on the porch. The food was very good. I had the Crab Martini and was very impressed with the lump crab meat in this appetizer. The combination of flavors was terrific. My husband had the Grouper Oscar... More

It was our pleasure to host your Uncle's birthday party. Our outdoor deck is a great area to have large gatherings. Glad to hear you enjoyed our crab cakes, especially coming from Maryland. I often tell folks wnen I see some Maryland plates pull up for the first time, the people usually have a dubious look on their face on... More

Let's start with the positives. Cute place and the porch is lovely although I don't know how it would be in the summer. Service was good but if you don't want to relax and enjoy your meal this is not your place. Salad was good, caramel brownie fantastic. Negatives were my entree which was the bacon wrapped bar-b-que shrimp. I... More

Thanks for visiting us and sharing your review. Sorry you had some 2-3 year old distractions during your visit. As far as the size of our shrimp, your server was almost right, we use the 21-25 (per pound) which are typically classified as jumbo shrimp ( there's that dang oxymoron!). I hope you get to visit again and try our... More
