While eating in a very average Sports bar the night before, I saw a TV commercial for the Reggae Shack Cafe, and after looking at their menu on-line, I made plans for lunch. I went to the various review sites, and the reviews were generally consistent---Very Good to Excellent food, lousy service. As a foodie, I was concerned about the... More

Reggae Shack is great because it caters to Jamaicans, non Jamaicans, vegans, and vegetarians. Their authentic dishes are great but the also offer some spins on the classics

We had a party of 9; so it took a while to get seated then when we were seated, not in the main dining area but next to the kitchen along the wall (facing the wall in a line) very ackward! As soon as another party behind us left we moved the tables around so we could all sit together... More

I visited this restaurant with my mom; I am a vegetarian but my mom isn't. The restaurant serves a good variety of vegetarian/vegan dishes, so that leaves you with an actual choice of food instead of the usual 1 or 2 options. But my mom loved her chicken as well. Be careful though; when they say it's spicy, it's spicy!... More

This place has plenty of options for vegetarians. I am not the salad type, I need my portions and flavours. This place has just that. If you can take harbanero level heat, try their jerk sauce. But remember, you've been forewarned.

Tried the curried goat, meat pie, and jerk chicken. All the food was spot on - the curry goat was yummy, although the goat was a little chewy - the flavour was great. The meat pies were phenomenal. The mango coconut smoothie was epic, although they only serve 32oz options, nothign smaller is available, and they are almost $6 -... More

Passing through gainesville recently and called for directions. They did an excellent job directing me from I 75 including coming outside to make sure I did not pass. The wait is long but also make great for having a beer or just reading the many write up and awards on their walls. Food taste great but expensive for the quantity.... More

I've been to Reggae Shack many times and have never been disappointed. I love the veggie mince special, it's always a new flavor and always delicious! My boyfriend loves the bone-in jerk chicken--but it is VERY hot. I hated tempeh before I had their curry tempeh (which they talked me into). It's awesome! The food sometimes takes a while to... The Reggae Shack is a small colorful restaurant. on university ave and 6th street just east of campus. They have a small counter and around 15 tables. Parking limited like anything downtown. We were there on weekend evening so it was easy to park right out front. The food is very good. The spices have a little kick but nothing... More

I am a regular here. I love the spicy food. The jerk chicken is brilliant. The chicken curry is mild, but they can spice it up for you, and my companions always love the oxtail. The fries are an interesting mix of sugar, salt, and spice. I don't know if I "like" them necessarily, but I enjoy the experience of... More
