Order the jerk chicken or shrimp.

Order the jerk chicken or shrimp. So good. It's a little spicy but so delicious. The restaurant smells so good. The people are very polite and respectful.

I have visited Gainesville twice, and have eaten here three times. The food is excellent, the portions large, and location close to university. I have tried Caribbean food all over the US, and this is by far one of the best. The curry shrimp and chicken are my fav - by far. Festivals are good. Must try if in Gainesville.

I had the curry goat. It was some of the best I have had. The goat was really tender and seasoned quite well. I will definitely go back.

We have eaten here several times and we absolutely love it. The food is so delicious and the service is excellent. My husband and I are vegans and it's the best vegan food that we've every eaten at a restaurant. My favorite is the vegan steak. All of the meals some with cabbage and peas which are delicious. Our son... More

This is a great place for a change of pace with very good authentic Jamaican food. Some of the entrees are challenging with strong flavors and/or lots of bones - but the wait staff is glad to describe what the dishes are and what to avoid if you have particular sensitivities. The atmosphere is festive and casual, though not particularly... More

If you are ever in Gainesville, FL stop by the Raggae Shack Cafe. This sleeper is a hit in Gainesville. I had the best veggie burger EVER in this establishment. The owner, Omar was so nice and we even took a photo with the chef. My friend had the Oxtails and she said they melted in her mouth! They have... More

Have absorbed hype about the Reggae Shack for years and finally tried for lunch. Food was good, but not knock-out good and the total for 4 was ~$50 for mostly burgers and snack food. The service was every bit as slow as I have been told, and it was not at all crowded.

Service is always good and polite. The food is always GREAT! When you say hot be careful, it will be very hot. Homemade desserts are to DIE for!

Step into this University Avenue storefront location for a taste of Jamaica. Painted in rich colors and decorated with posters of reggae stars from the island, the atmosphere is relaxing and laid back. On the menu are traditional Jamaican entrees including jerk dishes including goat and oxtail as well as rum cake - all flavors that introduce you to the... More

After spending two days in Miami, it turned out the best meal of our trip was at Reggae Shack in Gainesville on the way back home. We had the coconut shrimp to start. They were fine but the shrimp were a little small. I had the oxtail and my wife had the chicken curry. It was my first time having... More
