Very prompt service, even though it was busy, a collegial staff, very casual with a very avant-garde design. Do look around all of dining areas. The owner, a long time pizza maker is also an artist, which explains the decor. Though not claiming farm to table, a lot of the ingredients are actually local sourced. The house salad is very... Everyone has a place that's fun to goto and serves outstanding food. In this case it's the best Pizza you've eaten. You can purchase by the slice, whole pizza, calzone and an amazing salad. The place itself is decorated in early hippie/castoff. Nothing matches. The silverware, plates, and tables don't match but the eating is good. Out back is Lightning... More

I went to school in Gainesville and this place served one of the best pizza and salads in town. It's a local small place, prices are very reasonable and food is great. I just love their salad and I like that they serve only one type. If you're too hungry to think and looking for a place with limited option... More

We wanted to stop here for dinner on a driving trip down to SW Florida...but it was a Wednesday night and the parking lots all around were completely full!! We found out it was Trivia night, so we had to find another place to eat! But we were so intrigued by the wild collection of art and "junk" on the... More

Wait for an hour and sit in a dive. Eat the most expensive pizza in the world...and they only take cash. There is better pizza available in Gainesville, in a more comfortable setting, without the wait, conveniently located, less expensive, and if you happen not to have $100 in cash on you, you can pay with a card. It's a... More

I have to say that eating at Satchel's is not as muchabout the food as it is about the place! The pizza is fine-there is no problem with that...but-the dining experience surrounded by original local artists offering (yes-for sale) although more so the many sculptures on the grounds surrounding the eatery; and-not to forget-the most awesome toy store in the... We went with the family and they enjoyed the eclectic decorations of the place. The pizza is excellent even the gluten free one. The service was very friendly. We ate outside so I never saw the place inside.

We had heard about Satchel's, but all we knew was that a friend of my wife's was a regular during his sabbatical stay at UF. He said the place was really great, the food was ok and he often went just to see the bands. Well, yes, the place itself is indeed worth while visiting. What looks like some kind... More
