I've gone about 4 times. The waitstaff are great, and I love the pricepoint and the food for lunch. Dinner later in the evening is much pricier, and ergo, less impressive to me. The ambiance at lunchtime, though, is a little like a hotel lobby. But they don't push you out, the options are limited but interesting and well done.

This was my first time to Mildred's Big City Food. I was a bit surprised by the prices and the short menu. That being said, I had a great meal. I had the pork chop that has to have been the best pork chop I've ever had. My husband hand hanger steak which was also very good. Soup and salad... More

We eat at Mildred's Big City Foods about 12 times a year and we are never disappointed. The room is decorated in such a pleasing style. The wait staff is very courteous and the menu tends towards gourmet. Also the desserts are amazing. Every time we go to Mildred's we have an amazing meal.

I was concerned as to whether I was dressed appropriately for Mildred's (business casual), but some were wearing jeans. The tables are decorated with white table cloths covered with white paper, which was fine. Beyond that, not much upscale in the decor. They have bench seats at the tables that are against the wall that are more comfy than just... More

Chef Bert Gill is Gainesville's top chef in my opinion and his employees love to work WITH him. The food is as local as possible, fresh to the extreme. Great taste and seasoning. The butternut soup and the escargot were wonderful. Everything was better than good. The service is some of the best and nicest in town. Unfortunately, the atmosphere... More

Mildred's has a lovely ambiance and very good service. The menu is somewhat limited but they do have gluten-free options and hearty vegetarian fare. The pompano was very light, tasty and well prepared. One in our party had the pork tenderloin. The chef prepared it "medium." It went back for a bit more heat as it appeared more on the... More

Mildred's is located in an unimpressive back corner of a strip mall. The decor inside is plain. The service and food, however, were outstanding! The staff was attentive, friendly and knowledgable. The food selection was impressive for a little restaurant, with its menu changing daily based on ingredients that are available locally, in season etc. There was a mix of... More

Our son recommended Mildred's to us during a visit to him several years ago. We have been impressed with the consistent excellence of the food--quality of ingredients, creativity, presentation and service. The wine list is very reasonable and unusual; all the wines we've tried have been very good to outstanding. It's been awhile since we've been there, but clearly the... More

We took advantage of Restaurant week and found a worthy destination at Mildreds. We used their fixed price, augmented with the awesome sweet potato soup and perfectly complimentary red wine flight.. Host David deftly balanced wine selections, order taking, and dessert advice Zucchini salad also brought unexpected joy as the greens tasted fresh, the tomatoes had flavor, and the squash... More

For many years Mildred's has been our go-to restaurant when we visited our son who is a graduate student at the University. I was shocked last week when we were in Gainesville and saw that Mildred's was rated 47th. Nevertheless, we went there one evening and was glad to find that Mildred's is still one of the best restaurants in... More
