Great value for good Italian food

This is one of the first places we ate when moving to Gainesvilee, and we still return often. They have a nice selection of reasonably priced food, small bar, and good take out. Works well for families and friends alike. Tip #1. Check out the Special "to go" pizza prices. Tip #2. Outdoor... read more

We stopped at Pomodoro with the thought of grabbing a quick bite to eat in a Sunday. We stopped at Pkmodoro Cafe to learn that they don't do lunch "specials" on Sunday's!!!! That should have been our first clue that this is an authentic Italian restaurant. So we ordered a pizza....and wow is it fantastic. I used to travel to... More

I went with a group of 15....or at least it started out like that. We ended up with 27! Seating was outside and I wasn't sure how that would be because it was one of the coldest nights this winter. They had us all tucked in like bugs in a rug on the side porch with the sides down and... More

We eat at Pomodoro Café occasionally and decided to go there for Italian food for Valentine's Day. Mistake! First, they sat us outside on their patio where they had heaters working. Unfortunately, they could not control temperature. It was very hot by the heaters, so they turned one off. Then the cold air came in through the holes in the... More

We tried this place again but it's still pretty inconsistent. The first time the service was really slow and the food was just mediocre. This time the service was a bit better, but the food had slipped to cold and tasteless. At least when one compares it to the other pizzerias and Italian restaurants in Gville. Ordered the Parmigiano Favor... More

We visited here with family who lives in Gainesville. The service and atmosphere were excellent--but what we chose from the menu was not. The thai shrimp salad was tasteless, dressing tasteless. And one of us got sick within 3 hours of eating it. They keep you supplied with bread with a sticky-like sipping sauce-not my favorite. In fairness our friends... More

This is a great find in the area for some very good Italian food, and well done attentive service. Everything we've tried here has been good. Pizzas are very good, and all of the other dishes are as well. The food is well prepared, and served by good, friendly staff. They make you feel welcome when you arrive, and treat you,Ike family when you leave.

Usually sceptical of restaurants in strip malls, but on way to adjacent grocery store, stopped in for lunch. What a pleasant surprise, glad I stopped. Excellent service, atmosphere & food. Nice relaxing lunch (hit the 2 for 1 wine special). Even though solo, seated at nice booth, not encouraged to go to bar top like many places do, wasn't rushed... More

Christmas eve we were driving from Alabama to central Florida. We exited at gainesville Florida to get a quick dinner to find that the place we were headed for was closed. We saw a restaurant that was open and stumbled in not knowing what it was. The Pomodore Cafe was full of families celebrating Christmas eve. To my surprise, even... More

In town for UF graduation . We live in VA but are New Yorkers. This place reminds me of my days on Long Island. The classic local Italian eatery that serves pizza and everything else. Had a reservation that was honored immediately although larger groups were waiting. Owner runs a tight ship, but he was pleasant, although we waited to... More
