I've lived in the area for 30+ years and like to support local businesses as as opposed to the chains when possible. This place has 20 or more flavors of home made ice cream or sherbet daily. The constantly changing menu includes things that are way out and I might not try but how creative can you get! I'm not... More

With my husband we take time to visit this great ice cream shop at least two times a month! Ice cream or sherbets are a sweet tradition for our family! Sweet Dreams welcomes everyone, there is plenty of seating inside and outside, and toys and games for a longer visit.

My family found this great mom-and-pop hip stop while visiting Gainesville. We were thrilled to find delicious flavorful ice cream in unique flavors. Particularly the rose flavor with actual rose petals inside. Delicious! They have root beer floats with draught Abita root beer, homemade waffle cones and a cheerful staff that invites you to taste every flavor. We frequented this... More

Over the past two days I have sampled some of the finest homemade ice cream I have ever eaten. Rose, spiced stout and maple bacon - incredible! This is the best ice cream in Gainesville and the service is fantastic.

While waiting on a baseball game to begin at UF, we used Trip Advisor to locate an ice cream shop. Sweet Dreams was in a reasonable location near the college. It was hot out and the stream of people that came in was steady. The young ladies serving ice cream were polite. We explained to them it was our first... More

They have the classics but they really specialize in mixes of interesting ingredients. The day I went, they had rose ice cream. My all time favorite is the watermelon basil sorbet (no dairy) that you can only get in the summer.

Five of us went for an after dinner desert. Wife got a sugar-free cinnamon which was full of ice crystals and short on taste. Two others had mint and chocolate which was creamy but only average for a high end ice cream shop. My daughter-in-law had swamp chocolate which she hated. I had a Mayan spicy chocolate that was phenomenal.... More
