Going ten years strong with a menu designed to make mouths water and a location that embodies Gainesville's Downtown area, Big Lou's NY Style Pizzeria comes from humble beginnings. As many local start-ups do, Lou's developed into the reputable pizza spot it is today through a patient process. Lou Wynn, or "Big Lou" himself, is originally from South Florida but was no stranger to Gainesville. Graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in Health Science, Lou eventually decided to pursue the food industry. He was so inspired to build up his own restaurant (with the help of his supportive wife, Mary) that he was willing to do whatever it took to make it work - and even went as far as selling his car to pay for the original costs. Biking to work for the first few months of business is a whole new level of dedication... Nearly one decade and thousands of pizzas later, Lou's is constantly growing (currently under renovation!) While staying true to its warm and welcoming hometown roots. With a close group of team members, fun atmosphere and fresh ingredients that make our variety of menu items so satisfying, we promise any Lou's experience to leave you happy, full, and excited to come back again.

We like pizza and Lou's can make pizza. Salads are good as well. The best part was the price, It's like 15 dollars for two people to have lunch. College crowd, good service, Place is a mess but college kids don't care about ambiance.

Out of aloof the places in Gainesville, this has the most authentic New York pizza! Parking is difficult, plan for limited parking.

Are you looking for fancy tablecloths and soft music? Well hit the bricks then because that is not Big Lou's! What you will find is good pizza, calzones and salads at a reasonable price and if you leave Big Lou's hungry then there's something seriously wrong with you! C'mon! It's a busy pizza joint in a busy college town! Our... More

When we visited we could see how crowded and small the inside was but it was too hot to sit outside. We asked to pull up to the bar to have eat because there was no room for the stroller in the dining area. We were basically ushered and forced into the dining area so the staff could utilize the... very good value for huge slice of pizza salad and drink for 8.00. salad comes with two garlic rolls swimming in butter which makes it so much better tasting. do not expect fine dining as this is more of a established pizza place with rustic decor, so just roll with the eclectic vibe. also much better value and service than... This was my favorite pizzeria in Gainesville. Great spot downtown, very good pizza, and nice beer selection. Outdoor patio with at least 6 small tables. Friendly staff

We recently stopped there on an overnight trip. The front desk clerk suggested it but I should have realized we were in a college town (Gainesville). It was ok! The server was very considerate (tats and all) and the food was decent or maybe we were just hungry after the drive. Mostly college kids and a few locals. I'm sure... More

We ordered the Tomato Basil pie & it was excellent. We left full & happy! Highly recommend if you are craving a thin crust pizza.

Get the tomato basil pizza. It is amazing, they use fresh garlic, it is amazing. I also get the eggplant Parmesan sandwich. Great ingredients, locally owned. Lou takes a personal interest in making sure the food is great.
