Bland

I had high expectations for this quirky restaurant. The Gumbo was good but unfortunately the fish dishes weren't. Our table ordered three different fish dishes, and they arrived all looking the same...bland..and unfortunately all tasted the same. All were coated in the same breading, with frozen... read more

Normally, I would recommend quirky little restaurants like these, but I won't be going back to Maria's. For starters, they have a message of support for an idiotic political candidate on their sign outside, totally inappropriate. If that hadn't turned my, stomach, their food certainly would have. I would not recommend giving this place a try.

Back at Maria's for dinner. Food is as good as I remember from November. Seafood gumbo gets high marks and is very filling. Fried fish and shrimp are fresh and delicious!

This place is charming, in a simple, rustic, off beat way. We felt like we were back in the "backwaters" of Central America or rural coastal Mexico. The patio area, with the caged birds is a pleasant spot for a beer. Paco, the beautiful, very verbal cockatoo is fun to interact with. We had fried fish & etoufee, which were... More

Maria's Restaurant was recommended to us by friends visiting for the winter. Thus, we had to try it. Instead of ordering the Salmon Duval that was recommended, we tried a few other dishes. To begin with a dinner salad was served. The menu indicated all fresh ingredients. The salad was fresh with crispy lettuce and tomatoes. Also ordered at our... More

A small local favorite here. If you like good food at a good price, this is it and it's Authentic. Fresh fish and shrimp dishes. Gumbo is awesome. Maria is so cute.

The food is very good and Maria's youngest son is a very good server. The "All You Can Eat" white fish is a great deal and well prepared. Maria is going to expand the menu to include a number of Louisania (Cajun) dishes.

I've been going to Maria's for over 10 years and in the last year everything has gotten worse. There seems to be conflict among her and her sons, I can only guess that is the source of the decline in quality and service. The have smoked fish on the menu, but when I try to order it Maria says "no"... More

Maria's is a must for every trip we take to Fort Myers. Simply delicious. Emphasis on the simplicity because if you require much more than is necessary for any human, go somewhere else. If you like to enjoy yourself and taste fresh food, Maria's is again, a must.
