New England gem in Florida

Took my sister and a friend for lunch. Sister had the lunch size Fried Ipswich plate and the friend and I had the Dinner size Fried Ipswich plate. It was the best I have had outside of New England. Went here for dinner on a Friday night. A big restaurant that was virtually empty. Ordered the seafood gumbo. Nothing special. Very light on ingredients, but tasty. Main dish was blackened Swordfish with carrots and coleslaw. The Swordfish was a nice serving but under seasoned. The carrots were good. Coleslaw was fair. Service was just okay. People might try it... More

Here is my 2 cents on the food. The clam chowdah was great. No added pepper, salt or crackers needed. MMM good. I had fried oysters and the Boston Baked Beans I have never had oysters except from a can. Theses were good. Fried to a golden crisp. I did think the larger ones were a bit unusual. The texture... The food was fabulous. I had the lobster roll. The lobster was very tender and sweet. My husband had the fish and chips but said the clam chowder was one of the best including that found in the New England area. It was just the correct consistency with the correct amount of potatoes and clams. The desserts and drinks were... More

When the "Chowdah" is this good you know you will have a great meal. From Ipswich Clams(my Fav), to Middlenecks, even the stuffed Quahog make you feel like you are in Boston at the seaside. Great selection of craft beers and full bar service. A great place for family, friends or business meeting.

Went here for dinner and had a great meal! The blackened haddock was absolutely cooked perfectly. And the chowder was the best I have had in SWFL.

The Clambake Restaurant Ft. Myers Fla. In an attempt to avoid the harsh New England winters we spent some time in the warm friendly climate of south Florida during the cold months. The weather is wonderful and it’s enjoyable to have the warm sun and a tee time. However, after a while all the national chain restaurants seem to blend... More

We had supper with friends. They had been before and enjoyed it. We had scallops, grouper, broiled and fried seafood platters and the clam chowder as well. This was the best seafood I have had in a long time. Our server said it was flown-in fresh from New England. I also had a Narragansett beer which was on tap! Go... More
