Now THIS is dining!

Honestly, we weren't sure what to expect as we made our way from the parking lot through the plant-fillled exterior patio, but as the interior restaurant doors opened and we were warmly greeted (literally with open arms and a kiss on the cheek) we realized we were in for a delightful evening! Ate at Catalina's on the recommendation of a concierge...not impressed. Food was typical, atmosphere very overdone, a bit on the tacky side. Service overpowering. There are a lot better choices to be made in Fort Lauderdale when it comes to dining.

Referred here by the Marriott concierge and given a $40 coupon for 8 people for Christmas Eve dinner at the last minute. Our large party was seated outside quickly. We were treated to all kinds of free dishes including spicy shrimp (which was delicious). My mom-in-law wouldn't order anything as she didn't think she liked Cuban food but they brought... More

Mario has been in business for many years now and has done a great job with his restaurant. This is a Cuban and Spanish restaurant with top notch servers and food. The food is amazing and presented with creativity. Mario makes a point to talk with all his customers and get feedback. He's the perfect host. Be prepared to spend... More

We were referred by our concierge at the Marriott. We really enjoyed the atmosphere however, we felt there were too many waiters constantly interrupting the meal. I imagine they felt they were just trying to make sure we had everything we needed, but 9 staff members was a little much for us. After reading all the reviews we went in... More

The food was fantastic and there were large portions, the beverages lively, the service spectacular, and desserts - yummy. I enjoyed dinner at Mario's with two friends and we were stunned at the quantity and quality of food. If you like Caribbean type food, you will love this place. And, if you get to visit with Mario - that is... More

From looking at this place form the outside, it doesn't look like much at all. However, when you walk in, it's beautiful inside. There weren't very many people eating while we were there, so we were waited on by a team of men who gave us the best service. I've never had fine Cuban food before, and I must say... More

Great food, I would encourage everyone to go. Maria's beef excellent, rice and beans were great. Large variety of desserts and must finish with Cafe Conlache!!

Have to say I was reluctant to try the place after reading the negative reviews about the owner playing games with the bill but my husband and I went with an open mind and stayed alert for any of the gimmicks desribed by others. It was a fabulous meal. The food was excellent, the service was warm and attentive. My... More

I remember Mario back in the day when he had a little out of the way restaurant by Galt Ocean Mile. He worked really hard to become successful, but things changed in the new place. Prices got expensive and he seemed to become disingenuous. Frequently the bill had to be challenged at the end of a beautiful dinner, putting everyone... More
