Great food, great service - just pricey

There's nothing negative to say about the food or service. I was there with my parents, and all of us enjoyed it. Mario's beef, the pork chunks, the garlic shrimp were all outstanding. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed and the service was stellar. Mario himself came out and talked with us (it... read more

We really liked Mario's Catalina Restaurant. We went for lunch and enjoyed our pork roast and chicken salad. The atmosphere was interesting in a good way. This was mainly a Cuban style restaurant. A great place for lunch or dinner. Highly suggested!

I enjoyed the best grouper I've ever eaten. Ever! My wife's (palomillo) steak was also absolutely delicious. My mojito and her sangria were also prepared with skill and panache. The service was prompt and courteous. And the ambience was colorful and festive. So be prepared to be wowed by the food, service, and surroundings. That said, I've never paid higher... More

We visited Mario's last year during a week long trip to Ft. Lauderdale are found it lived up to the reviews. Our experience was so good we decided to visit on this trip. Our second visit was a disappointment to say the least. The restaurant was busy but not exceptionally so. Unfortunately the music was loud and as a result,... More

Mario's is a quality restaurant with excellent food and outstanding service. Even if you think you may not like Cuban food, give this a try! There is great variety in the menu and I've never had a bad meal here. Mario used to have this restaurant in a much smaller venue in N. Ft. Lauderdale. When he moved to the... More

We had just spent seven days sailing the Caribbean and had one day in Fort Lauderdale before heading home. We asked the concierge at our hotel for some good Cuban food. He directed us here and we were glad he did. There were six of us and we started with the appetizer sampler. We ordered some Sangria- - - THE BEST.... More

greeted at the door and the service continued to be great! Multiple people paid attention to our needs, provided us with suggestions and kept our drinks full. We shared the appetizer sampler (must have) and the paella along with a sampling of dessert, yum! Sangria was homemade and THE BEST, plenty of drunk fruit! We will return!!!!

This place is pretty amazing if you are a fan of Cuban food or meat in general. Fair warning, you will spend roughly $50 or more per person. It is candle lit with nice ambiance so good for special occasions. If you are from out of town, and want good authentic Cuban food, and are willing to pay up for... More

We arrived from NY earlier that day and met our South Florida friends at Mario's. Décor is done very nicely and it does transport you to another place. A bit difficult to carry on a conversation without having to repeat. Both couples ordered a shrimp cocktail for two. When the waiter brought what we thought was the first of the... More
