A Touch of the Old World While Serving the Traditional Dishes

I did not know what to expect, having walked over from my hotel (same block) and entering without knowing what to expect. The atmosphere is quite nostalgic and enjoyable. It seems I stepped back to the 1950's West Germany. The menu offers primarily German fare and a few variations for those who do... read more

Saw advertisement for Old heidelberg, saying is served handmade german meals. I have eaten German food, hand prepared many times in Germany. This was NOT handmade. The beef was oval shaped, cut off a processed beef loaf. The red cabbage had been heated in seperate bowl and served, the knudle was not hand made but scooped out of a tray... More

Great place. Feeling was very authentic German style; food and environment felt authentic too. There were three tables nearby, all speaking German. It felt like all the Germans knew where the place to get their favorite food was, and we were there. At least that's what I felt in the moment. We ordered a bunch of sausages, of course, and... I used to go to old Heidelberg once in a while when my mom was alive but since he she died in 2002 , I hadn't been back for some reason . My husband and I were over on that side of town and I thought to myself I haven't had German food in so long , shall we go... More

I lived in the Rhine River Valley for four years. I know what it is supposed to taste like. The food here is pretty close. The seasoning is not right , and they do not substitute some of the sides that are not good.......the brat kartoffel is getting better.... The entrees are pretty close. Hard to find better😄

Authentic German restaurant. We both had the sauerbraten and was prepared just right with dumplings & red cabbage. German beer was excellent. The salad is small but delicious. Each item is separate. Carrots, cucumbers, cole slaw, pickled green beans & lettuce. Dressing delicious!! Close to Ft Lauderdale Int'l Airport on SR 84. Interior is decorated with beer steins & other... More

I go out to dinner with my father at least once a week. I like to mix it up...so I mentioned German Food. My Dad is from European descent and he liked the idea. Old Heidelberg is as quaint and cute as you can get. It is designed to give you an intimate feeling, but can accommodate large groups. Our... More

Good food and great beer. Staff was friendly. If you want a quiet dinner, don't sit beside the stage. Most of our group left the restaurant with doggy bags as the portions of food were large. Extensive menu. I look forward in a return visit. To have more of their great schnitzel.

We were staying overnight near the airport for an early flight - I looked for a nearby restaurant for dinner and found this - sounded good. I was a little uneasy when I pulled into the parking lot - it was early, broad daylight and not many other cars. Frankly, as other reviewers have pointed out, the exterior is unimpressive... More

This German restaurant has good food but they are unwilling to alter the menu at all. If you do not like potatoes but prefer dumplings or spaetzle (it is German after all) you must purchase the dinner with the potatoes and then pay extra for the dumpling or spaetzle. This is just an example but the waitress was unwilling to... More
