Great View, Good Fried Fish

We both had fried grouper sandwiches. They were good. Nothing to write home about, but good. The waterside dining is great as long as you get there before the mosquitos and no-see-ums. There aren't many choices in this small town, and this one is one of the better.

Stooped here to eat before an airboat ride. Had some breaded scallops and shrimp. Delicious and so fresh. You can see them dip your seafood in the breading after they take it out of the display case. Very casual, outside dining on the water on picnic benches. You pick up your order at the take out window. This was perfect... More

I had lunch at City Seafood this past Saturday after a trek through the Big Cypress Swamp. I wound up in Everglades City purely by good fortune and found myself at the doorstep of this restaurant/seafood market just moments later. What a great find! Aside from the seafood being super fresh and served rather simply --- which is a good... More

City Seafood is located in the heart of Everglades City. They have a variety of fish on the menu and for sale. The place is located on the water and has views of the Everglades and boats traveling through. It is a casual place with picnic tables to sit. Fish is fresh and well cooked - large portions too. Can... More

In a sense it's not really fair to try to review any of the "restaurants" in Everglades City since they are really mostly picnic benches sit up outside, in covered areas, with food prepared inside and then brought to your table. The food at City Seafood was pretty good, nothing special or memorable. But if you happen to be here... More

We did the airboat tour down the road, so stopped here afterwards for lunch. You order your food and then they call your number when ready. Service was quick. We ate sitting on a bench looking out over the waterway watching the airboats go by. They also have a full bar which we did use because you can get beer... More

Positives: The setting is lovely, overlooking a small marina where you can watch the airboats come and go. The food is fresh and good, particularly the gator basket. An excellent place for a quick and delicious lunch. Negatives: closes at 6 pm, and even earlier than that they have run out of most of the items on the menu.

First, you don't go in here for the atmosphere or the service. Its stand in line to order, pick up when your number is called. Pick up again when what they forgot is ready. Watch the chaos in the kitchen. Its basically southern fried seafood. Our stone crabs were definitely second quality. Understandable as the restaurants and fish peddlers get... More

Had some lovely fresh fish, French fries and salad. The lady who took our order was rather terse and grumpy, though. We had a misunderstanding - we saw 'fish fingers' on the menu, which we understood to be the packaged items you buy in the supermarket but it was small lumps of fish fried in batter - absolutely delicious but... Ordered various fish baskets and sides of coleslaw. Fish really fresh and tasty and setting fabulous. We sat on a deck with wooden benches and had a view across the water. Coleslaw excellent and everything home made. Key lime pie very good.
