Delicious tapas with some unusual ingredients like hibiscus flower and cactus among others. The restaurant scene in Deland is in some ways far superior to the much larger Port Orange/Daytona area. Greek, Mediterranean, Thai and New Wave Tex Mex are all part of their expanding eatery scene. Prices are moderate as well. De La Vega offers three menus for lunch.... More

We love to go here. The chef is from Mexico City, so there is a Mexican touch to a lot of the dishes. However, there is much, much more that is not Mexican. Try the Aspirinas. These are small corn dough patties topped with beans, tomato, onion, cheese, and sour cream. You can add chicken, or chorizo sausage. All 3... More

Really great little place with an unique menu. We really enjoyed the Taps and a glass of wine. Since this was an afternoon snack, we had the Aspirinas which are small masa patties with beans, onions, tomato, cheese and sour cream. The taste was unique and we polished them off with and order of plantains which were cooked to perfection.... More

We were a couple. We ordered two tapas and two meals. It was too much. The tapas were terrific. We should have ordered only one. We each took about half our dinner home with us. I had the paella. It was great. A lot of other items besides just rice. My wife had a salad. Both were excellent.

I always knew that there MUST be more to Mexican food than the usual burritos, tacos, enchilatas and fajitas. Not that I don't enjoy those dishes but let's face it, this is the standard fare when dining at a typical Mexican restaurant. Not so at De La Vega. I had never heard of most of these dishes and could hardly... More

De La Vega could be missed, in and among the downtown Woodland Blvd eateries..... once inside the ample menu and quality service is second only to the incredible cuisine and presentation.... add in their rewards club with priority seating and you have a 5 star experience

Normally research restaurants to stop at whilst on a road trip. This was an accidental find. Deland was an exit on I4 and kids were hungry. Knew Cress was there but this wasn't open fire lunch. So we tried here. Worth a visit and very different. Really worth it as very tasty.

My husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary here. We had the most amazing food and experience all-around! Everything was wonderful... but my favorite was the plantain soup and aspirinas!Everything was made from scratch and you certainly could tell! My husband is a chef and a very big food critic. He only had positive raves about this place. The... More
