Great "cook your own" Breakfast

We had read about The Old Spanish Sugar Mill and Griddle House, but to experience it is another thing. If ordering pancakes, for example, the waitress will bring pitchers of pancake batter to your table, which has a griddle in the middle. You pour your own batter, add your selected topping, and... read more

After visiting Blue Spring State Park to see the manatees decided to drive over to De Leon Springs State Park mainly to eat at the Old Spanish Sugar Mill. We arrived around 1:30 and were seated right away. The waitress (extremely friendly and efficient) commented that we timed it right, the wait had been very long earlier. She did an... More

Bring a good appetite and polish up your griddle skills and you will be delighted by this wondrous gem. Prepare for a wait as this is a destination that many visit. Prepare to pay to get into the world famous DeLeon Springs State Park and get your name on the list at the Old Spanish Sugar Mill. Stroll over to... More

I have never had a hot griddle at the table and then given the eggs, sausage, and pancake batter to make our own! I would suggest that each diner choose one condiment for the pancakes and then share around--eg, pecans for one and blueberries for the other, etc. Very reasonable fare. I would advise that you get there early in... More

Enjoyed this place - you make your own pancakes on a griddle in the middle of the table that gets really hot, so folks with kids will need to be careful that they don't get burned. It was fun to make our own pancakes and try the different batters. Nice walk about the park area afterwards. You do have to... More

OK, you have to pay $ 6.00 to enter the state park (fee required in all state parks) and you can expect a 18% gratuity added to your bill...now that those items are out of the way, on with my review. My wife and I had not been here in about 15 years and a antique car club we belong... More

Nestled inside a beautiful Florida state park ($6 admission) with freshwater spring fed pool, hiking trails, pavilions, playground, canoe rentals, eco-boat tour and gigantic ancient Spanish moss draped oaks. The old Spanish mill was actually a sugar mill before being destroyed by Union soldiers during a raid. Walls and equipment still survive. The restaurant - oh yea, I'm reviewing the... More

We were camping with our Girl Scout troop in Blue Springs State Park and went to Deleon Springs for breakfast at the Old Spanish Sugar Mill and it was worth the wait! They take reservations, but could not take one for us, since it was last minute. However, with a party of 12 on a Saturday morning (during a historical... More

Located inside DeLeon Springs State Park, this is one of the best and unique restaurants in the country. I mean how many restaurants can you go to where you can make your own breakfast or lunch on a griddle in the middle of your own table. We ordered the all you can eat pancakes which are only about 6 dollars.... More
