My family just had the pleasure of eating at Tarks. We had driven by the night before, saw it packed and were curious so came back for lunch. What an amazing experience! We sat at the counter and were served by Jo. The place is small and lively and the staff had hustle. The food was delicious, fresh and pipping... More

Definitely can't judge a book by the cover on this restaurant. It's a small dated hole in the wall with great food! We had BIG raw oysters, crab legs, hot wings, fried calamari, shrimp n cold beer. The calamari was very lightly breaded and tasty. The shrimp was cooked to perfection, not greasy, a little above average on taste. The... More

I found this place in an article I was reading about our trip to Hollywood, FL. What I pictured in my head was a dive on a beach serving the best fried clams ever. Not exactly reality...however, they did serve the best fried clam bellies my husband and I have ever eaten. Yes, it's a hole in the wall. Yes... More

If you want fancy linens and china, don't come here. On the other hand, if you want delicious, straight-up local seafood with lots of atmosphere and some grungy surroundings (which adds to the pleasure of the meal), come here. This is a diner straight from the 1970s, or earlier, and never changed (or, perhaps, cleaned). The music also is from... More

Total hole in the wall with great food at great prices. This is THE place to go for oysters!!! If you're looking for a fancy ambiance, go elsewhere. If you're looking for a little hole in the wall, old Florida, raw bar, come on in!!

Excellence without pretense. In this cozy tattered shack, the daytime cook conjures, cajoles, and captivates with his hyper-drive juggling of fillets and fries and clams and oysters and shrimp and customers and servers. Songs and non-stop clever chatter and intense focus on his craft. This magician appears a one man show who produces, in a surprisingly short time, some of... More

Ate at Tarks today for the first time. Staying for the night pre cruise. Saw it was 1/2 mile away walked there. It really didn't look like much, but 1st impression was wrong. It was a small greasy spoon type diner. The staff very friendly. The food awesome specially form the price. I had the Gator platter - yea alligator... More

I have only been to Tarks once, while staying overnight pre-cruise in Dania Beach. Four of us went, and everyone enjoyed their meal and said that they would like to return. The building is a little run down with little seating. It is easy to understand how it could be called a local dive. Local is the key word, as... More

We ordered: the gator tail, which was cooked well; the crab legs, which were cooked well (that's usually not difficult); the Surf and Surf, which was blackened grouper (dry and tasteless), blackened BBQ shrimp (which was very good), Cole slaw (good), and curly fries (OK). I would say this place is average in general. It's a lunch counter, with a... More

Its been several years since I've been to Tarks, and after this visit, it'll be a long time until I return. The place looks like it hasn't been maintained in years, and the food was very mediocre. My wife had the blackened mahi with sweet potato fries and was underwhelmed. I had the fried seafood basket (shrimp, clam strips, fish... More
