Quirky but Fun and Cheap

A friend from the area recommended this place and took me there during a recent biz trip to the area. It was a Wednesday night and when we pulled into the parking lot I didn't thing there'd be a chance for a seat anywhere. It looked packed. We lucked up and got two seats at the bar immediately... read more

Tarks is a family friendly place where you feel welcomed. Just be prepared to eat. The place is seafood and more seafood. The owner and his staff are just top notch. Do not come in your best clothes. It's a casual, super casual beachy sort of place in Fort Lauderdale. The conch fritters and fried shrimp are my favorites.

Dive. Hole in the wall. Shack. Call it what you want, but this place rocks some seafood. Chowder, platters, oysters shucked right in front of you. Don't let the decor keep you away. Belly up to the counter, make a friend or two, and get your eats on...all at a decent price. Feel like a local and leave with a... More

OK, disclaimer; other reviews talk about the setting. It is tiny not the cleanest looking, but for down home seafood and raw bar it is great. I had second thoughts about my rating, but we did enjoy it. It is fun to experience this kind of local flavor. The staff size is small so it takes a while to give... More

Me and my wife stopped here because of the great reviews. Very small place. Can seat 15 max with a few outside tables. After tasting the wings, calamari, and fried oysters, I can't see why this place would get 4 stars! Most of the food was tasteless, except the French fries, they were ok. I expected more. Maybe I was... More

Not a place you'd take someone for the first date. It's not exactly the prettiest place since it was built in the 60s and nothing really looks updated. Environment is fast-paced, casual and the floors are littered. Kitchen is open for everyone to see and you can sometimes see the cooks take a break and eat. Came here for the... More

It's a shack but it's our neighborhood shack. Been there forever and always an experience. Found a pearl in one of my oysters 35 years ago.

If you want to eat lots and lots of seafood for a great price this is the place! It comes with a warning: the place it's very dirty!!! The cook is super impolite ! All this didn't stopped us to go back. Seafood is fresh and the beer is tasty. Every night they are running specials so you can have... More

The oysters are fresh, the prices are great...lots of selections for the family.. The calamari was OK..wings are good but a little sour good place for an inexpensive family meal...could be a little cleaner.. Service is great
