Very good meal & service

We ate at the Cortez Kitchen last year when we visited Longboat Key & couldn't wait to eat there again. It is a very casual place with very good food. Parking can be difficult though. It wasn't very busy the night we were there so we didn't have to wait for a table. The special was red shrimp... read more

We first dined here in 2012 -- and I have been dreaming of a return visit and an opportunity to eat the Best Fish Tacos Ever since 2012. Sadly, as I learned when we returned in 2015, fish tacos are only on the menu on the weekends. Well, an excuse to go back again! Regardless, this place is hole in... More

A local had recommended Cortez Kitchen to us while vacationing in Florida. We stopped in for a drink and an appetizer each. My friend had the fried alligator and said the dish was very good. I had opted for the drunken clams. The clams were a decent portion with a lot of flavor. They had outdoor seating where you can... More

This is frequented by both local residents, stopping in for some beer and music when a combo is playing as well as the ever swelling number of tourist/vacationers who have found Cortez fishing village. It is on the water, sort of, with fishing vessels and in the middle of a boatyard. A fish packing house is here, too. Food is... More

Had lunch here with out-of-town family. Among the 6 of us, we had calimari, grouper, & shrimp. All was fresh and hot, cooked right, and delivered promptly to all. Cold beer, good service, friendly folks. Will definitely be back! Lunch time was quiet enough to have decent conversation.

Food was good! (my taste might be different then yours) Serves there was friendly, down to earth. Went there twice and both time the waitress explained food and never made you feel out of place or RUSHED! I went to a couple of places where they would make me feel rushed and stupid! (I am not from here so I... More

We loved the food and atmosphere. Fabulous grouper, shrimp, scallops etc. different than the run of the mill sides. I would definitely recommend it. First here in October, back in June. One of our tables had bad service but the other waitstaff were good.

When we first arrived about 7:30 on a Saturday night, the music from the band in the dining room was so loud, I thought about turning around right then and there. But we sat on the deck, where it wasn't as loud, and were glad we waited it out. The conch fritters were homemade, not the dried-out frozen ones you... More

Let's start with...our waitress was rude. I waited 30 minutes for her to take my credit card, then I got mad. Tried to get another employer to take it they said they couldn't. I had to track down my waitress and practically forced my credit card at her. The did didn't taste fresh and wasn't that good. There food is... More

Very good, fresh seafood. One of those out of the way places, but everyone knows where it's at. Only problem is parking. Always has a good crowd, so parking is a premium
