Yet Another Japanese Restaurant in The Gables

We go to this restaurant about twice a year. Food is always good (per my Japanese SO), service is good and there is a wide variety of food. However, my SO is not really keen on their salad. Price is a little higher than Benihana, shabu shabu being particularly expensive.

After coming here for several years, it's sad to see the service of the place go so far down. I was basically ignored as I stood to be seated. Even after approaching the waitress several times. I had gone to the restaurant a week previously and noticed the quality of the food was not the same, but the service was... More

We were here on Monday night, First the parking is really good with a lot adjacent to the building. I recommend you try the small dishes on the chalkboard lining their wall, you will be very happy. Each dish is prepared with care and they are really good. We had Toro, Muscles and Chica's special and I would recommend each... More

A Coral Gables Japanese staple restaurant, where the owner prepping sushi at the bar will greet you with a loud, "Welcome" in strong Japanese accent. The place is usually packed for lunch where quick bento boxes come and go at a fast pace. A variety of plates are displayed daily on a chalk board for those who can't find their... More

Across the street from the Westin entrance. Consistently high quality Sushi, and wide ranging Japanese sea-food menu.

My husband and I often come here for lunch when we're in the mood for sushi and are in downtown Coral Gables. There is usually a man greeting you "Hello, how are you?" when you come in. It's usually easy to find a seat, although tables are close together and it can get a little noisy with the tile floors.... More

Have been in this place since 2000. It has always an authentic ambience, fresh fish for sashimi or niguri, an excellent quality of blue toro when available and an amazing 895 lunch bento box with options for sahimi, sushi, and teriyaki. this is not the creative fusion sushi place but a really good experience for lunch or dinner. My favorite... More

Read the blackboard for the daily specials. Today we had the wahoo tataki and salad with sashimi for the board. Excellent. Service is exceptional with a "homey" feeling. Definitely one of the better sushi restaurants in Miami.

Not being an expert on Japanese food other than Sushi, if what Izakaya serves is typical Japanese, then I will have to book a trip to Japan. Delicious food, friendly service and entrees well beyond your 9 to 5 sushi restaurant.
