Tried to eat here on our first day in Clearwater but sadly they were fully booked (great sign though). We went back a few days later and had a great meal - the food was fantastic and perfectly cooked. The only reason I did not rate this place as excellent was that we were put onto a table almost in... This was my second trip to Belleair Beach and my second trip to Backwaters. It was the first place I wanted to visit upon coming back and I was not disappointed. The food is great - I *love* the blackened scallops wrapped in bacon. They are caramelized and tender and sweet. I had the blackened grouper and my friend had... More

This is a good choice with reasonable prices to get in a quick lunch or even dinner We were in the resort across the street and found Backwaters to be a good alternative within walking distance of the beach It gets busy and if you choose to sit outside make sure it is within the cover area since the rain... We made reservations for July 4 for a party of 6, 1 of which was a 12 month old. I asked the hostess (who appeared to be in training) for a high chair and she said she'd get one. A few minutes later, we were still waiting and I noticed the hostess who had seated us had moved on to... More

Our server Sandy was friendly and attentive, the food was good and the prices reasonable compared to other beach restaurants. Will definitely be back.

Almost 13 months to the day, my wife and I, two Brits re-visiting some old Floridian haunts, found ourselves wanting to sample some good old American food. We visited Backwaters last year and to say that we were impressed, well as the heading says - Never again will we be able to visit the Gulf Coast without at least one... More

I can't believe they would serve a dryed up tiny piece of mahi and a scoop of mashed potatoes for fourteen dollars. It's a real ripoff i would not recommend this place to anyone, worst food I've had an they have the Gaul to charge those kind of prices.
