First Class

Old, but first class food, service and attention to detail. Best menu in Cedar Key. You know it's going to be very good when anytime you walk in the place the owners are there working hard, being attentive to detail, yet take the time to welcome you and see to your needs

We had high expectations after reading the reviews. Nice olde Florida hotel ambiance, but service and food were below average. Maybe it was an off day, but disappointing.

Came on a recommendation from a local and so pleased we did. We ate in the back room behind the bar where there was a fun, friendly happy hour crowd scene. The murals on the wall are delightful. It was after 5:30 and we ended up ordering from the full restaurant menu. We were very happy with our meals. The... More

While the pricey food was OK, the service was not. Our waiter never asked us if we wanted drinks or appetizers. When he brought the beer, he did not include chilled glass. He never asked if we wanted second drinks either. The "French Onion Soup" was great tasting, but the smallest serving ever and with next to no cheese melted... More

We sat on the screened in porch and had a fantastic meal, hearts of palm salad, clams and mahi mahi, enjoyed the complimentary bread as well. There is also a more casual bar area in the rear with a more affordable menu.

We were greeted warmly, even though it was close to closing time, and welcomed into the dining room. Our waiter was helpful with suggestions and describing the specials. We enjoyed crab-stuffed mushroom caps, redfish piccata, and crab imperial. The salad was crispy and cold, and the dressings were homemade. Key Lime pie for dessert was luscious. The hotel is full... Food was okay but pricey. It is a great place for experiencing a bit of history. It's worth a visit just to see the manatee sitting at the piano. :}

We were looking forward to a great meal after looking at the rating, menu and atmosphere. There was 4 of us and 3 out of four were disappointed.

I'm from Colorado where it's still tough to find true scallops, clams and fresh shrimp. The Island Hotel ruined me. I'll never ever find seafood anywhere else that compares in taste and texture and complete freshness! Delish. Utterly Delish. Pricing is fair the service was excellent even though they were short-staffed at that moment.

Had dinner there this week, again. The ambiance is only surpassed by the food. One can't go wrong if choosing to meet at "the hotel". There were five of us in our group and each ordered differently. Everyone complemented their choice. It was topped off with yummy key lime pie. I guess you can't beat that. Will come back the... More
