Excellent Food in a Unique Historical Building

We had a great experience having dinner at the Island Hotel. The service and food were great, and it is a beautiful hotel with a lively bar with live music to boot. The only negative I can think of were the prices were high relative to the portion size. Average meal is $25+.

We didn't actually eat in the restaurant, but they catered the reception for the Marine Science Symposium we attended. The food was absolutely amazing! They served oysters, clams prepared several different ways, along with veggie and cheese spreads.

Too bad they are not open for lunch! The food is good and the wait staff wonderful. The heart of palm salad that originated here is always a winner. They don't mine if you share as we usually do.The surf and turf is wonderful.

Historical site with very good food. We requested a room tour and it felt like a museum visit. The Atsena Otie sherry sauce is a homage to the Key's original name.

Wife and I went to Cedar Key for a few days over Christmas. Island Hotel and Restaurant was the only place in town serving on Christmas Day. We booked 3pm reservations, were a few minutes early, and were seated right away. The dining room was full of like-minded diners. We chatted with some; all seemed to be having a good... More

We stayed in one of the studio rooms which was larger than we expected. We stayed two nights and ate out all meals, but the room offered a fully equipped kitchen, and double sliding doors to deck. Ate at the restaurant first night for best meal of 8 night vacation.
