Great food

Blue Desert has become a habit for us when we're in Cedar Key. The ambiance of the small cafe is charming, but it's the food that really draws us in. They offer dishes that you will not find anywhere else on the island and everything is homemade. Be prepared to wait for your meal as the chef... read more

The food was basic and tasted good. The waitress was a huge disappointment. I really don't want to list all the reasons why I've given this review and I've never left a review this bad before ever and have written personally to the restaurant so they are aware of what happened. Basically I was told to go outside & read... More

Nothing special. Food was decent but quite ordinary. Quirky place. The kitchen definitely cannot keep up with the number of seats in the restaurant. It was busy while we were there and dinner was a looong exerience. Waitress was very pleasant and nice to chat with about Cedar Key - after the rush was over.

The warning about the long wait time (from the server) was well placed, but she explained that all dishes are made to order. We were in no hurry and enjoyed some drinks and the excellent seafood soup special. The pizzas were fantastic, especially the one with the smoked oysters, and they were made in a vintage pizza oven in the... More

Always like to bring visiting family and friends to Blue Desert for a special treat. On of our favorite restaurants to dine. Meals are always consistent and made to order. If you want a quick meal this is not the place to go. This is the kind of place you go have a beer, wine or soda and a couple... More

Each meal is prepared fresh, individually, first come, first cooked. In other words, if you have the misfortune to arrive just after a large group has ordered, you will be waiting a long, long time for your dinner. We ordered just in front of a large group and they didn't get their appetizers until we had finished our entrees. No... More

New waitress was doing her best - there were eight of us - the kitchen can only cook one or two orders at a time - an hour and a half later some of us got our food - another 15 minutes for the rest. We've been going to Cedar Key for years as a group and this was our... More

Delicious seafood burrito, quirky space and eager wait staff. This was my third time here and the food is reliably tasty and made with fresh ingredients.

Great meal on a Friday night. You can tell everything is homemade by the owner/cook who is obviously proud of her offerings. My wife had the cool shrimp pasta special which features basil and a hint of mint leaf in a butter wine sauce over linguini and a great house salad. I had a unique shrimp and scallop burrito (2)... Visit Blue Desert on every trip to the Island and always enjoy it. Food is good, atmosphere is laid back and fun, wait staff is friendly (we helped "train" a newby). Doesn't look like much on the outside, but worth the effort. Try it it next time you are in Cedar Key.
