The food was very good. We recommend the stuffed mushroom caps and grouper. The crab bisque was very good as well.
Some of the dishes are good, some are average. It is a very cute location. Sometimes there is live music. Make sure you know if you want to be there during live music or not, as if you are there during the music it isn't easy to just talk with your dinner companions. We recently enjoyed a fun meal at Steamers. The staff was efficient and friendly, the food was good, and the setting was authentic old Florida coastal village. We sampled a variety of dishes and no one was disappointed. We agreed we would return to Steamers on our next trip to Cedar Key!
Steamers is one of several similar restaurants on Dock Street in Cedar Key. Friendly atmosphere, good beer on draft and large portions of seafood - all served either fried, grilled or blackened (ie spicy). Service is friendly and brisk.

Have to climb up stairs, (didn't like that-of course I am petrified of stairs). The service was impecible. I had the clam chowder and it was very flavorable, lots of clams, and fairly thick. Loved it! My hubby had fish and chips and he was happy with them. The temperature outside was brutal, but, the airconditioning in Steamers was so... More
Stopped in mid-week and had a good lunch. Service was "laid back" but fast enough for two retires not in a hurry. Food was decent. Good beer selection.
The food was average but we did like the music and the service was really good. We got the platter and shared it and there wasn't as much food as we thought. The mashed potatoes was the best thing we had.
Located on the top floor over downtown shoppes, the view alone is worth the visit. If you can draw your attention away from the gorgeous view, do order the crisp and tender fried calimari appetizer with marinara sauce. The Low Country Boil is an array of mussels, clams, shrimp, snow crab, corn, and potatoes steamed in beer and is delicious.... More
