Quaint restaurant, authentic food, a must-try when in the Cape!

This is one of those great hidden gems- locally owned, with great food. I've never dined on Fish and Chips outside of the US, so I can't vouch for authenticity, but it seemed spot on to me. The restaurant is small, but was packed on the week night we went. The door says they close at 7:30 (I think... read more

Here is my 2 cents on the food. Well the taste and quality is still there. Chips are crispy on the outside and hot/steamy on the inside. The fish is as good as ever. Crispy too, flesh is delightful ffor the taste buds. So if in The Cape and need to scratch that itch for fish & chips. This is... More

I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to go to Europe through my school, and I got to visit the UK and eat real fish and chips (something I had always wanted to do). The experience was life-altering, and I was glad to be home but also sad that I left such a magical place when I had just... More

Had lunch at Pete,s not knowing what to expect, the reviews are a little confusing. Here's mine ! The fish I ordered was a "large" portion, (their description" , it consisted of a nice sized fillet of cod, perfectly battered and hot from the fryer. The " beer battered" cod was fried to a golden brown, not to greasy, and... More

Thanks to GPS for locating the best fish and chips, this side of the Atlantic. The service and friendliness of the staff was exceptional. The place was spotless and the menu was mouthwatering. From the British pictures on the wall to the malt vinegar and mushy peas, everything was great. The food was excellent and the portions ample. Loved the British... More

Pete's is a small, kind of self serve restaurant that prides itself on serving British style fish and chips along with English style pies and pasties. We ordered at the counter a small basket of fish and chips at lunchtime. The place also does a take out business. The order was called and we sat ourselves at a small table... More

It's been about a year since we've been in and we were craving those fish and chips so we made a lunch date. Pete's Fish and Chips restaurant isn't a huge place, only about 8 tables to sit at. We entered the store and were greeted. I usually get the large fish and chips, but I decided on the #2... More

Big flank of fish and made to order chips (French fries) just as you would get in London cooked by a real Brit. Be sure to ask for a side of brown gravy! Pleanty of British and American beer by the bottle - get the Bass Ale or Newcastle Brown Ale and you will cap off the whole British experience.... More

We love this place! Very simple, bright, clean and unassuming. But what you don't get in busy decor, you get in perfectly and fluffy battered, perfectly fried, flavorful fresh fish. All prepared right in front of you on the other side of the counter, if you want to watch. Or just sit and wait, and melt in the aroma of... More

Nearly six months ago, I wrote a two star review on Pete's, a complete departure to my usual opinion of the place, due to a bad take out order I received. I made the comment that the restaurant was going downhill and not as good as it used to be. After a dine in visit today, I must admit my... More
