Not worth the prices they charge here

Restaurants that are off the beaten path need to offer something extra-special to merit the time and effort that diners invest to get there. For my money, Capt’n Con’s doesn’t make the cut. I always take visitors to Matlacha, Florida, for the experience of a laid-back village reminiscent of the old Key West. This time I decided to take a guest to Captain Ron's Fish House since I had never been and heard good thinks about the restaurant. Never again! The restaurant was freezing, there was one waitress for it all, the oysters... More

Four of us went for lunch recently and really enjoyed the 'old Florida' atmosphere. The seafood soup is a must if you visit. The fish special was very good as well. My wife is not a lover of seafood/fish so she had the grilled cheese and said it was the best she has had!

Great food and atmosphere. Make sure you try the peanut butter pie and worry about the diet afte. The gallery down the road is nice too so an excellent destination.

Do not go here expecting good local seafood..If you're into frozen, over cooked and over priced food than this is it! We live here locally and would never go back again.Do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere! Heads up about the oysters on the halfshell..they were warm and tastless..like the rest of our meal. Even the seafood chowder is... More

Beautiful sunny day wanted to drive out somewhere for lunch while the kids are in school- made our way here and was a little hesitant based on reviews, but never shy away from trying something ourselves. We both thought some shrimp salad sounded refreshing and asked if we could make it into a sandwich platter which they obliged no problem.... More

This place is not at all welcoming. My sister and I had a late lunch so we decided we would split a meal. The flounder was a perfect sqare of fish, obviously frozen. The stuffed crab was cold, assuming also frozen. Very expensive for such a terrible value. The waitress was rude. Would not recommend. Talking with locals after visiting... More

The service was terrible, the fish don't waste your money. If I come back it would only be for the peanut butter pie. It was amazing! The walk on the peer after dinner was beautiful.

4/6 of us actually got a little sick from the fish last time we were there (which was odd) but we would go back as we've never had anything bad to say about this little find before! Every resturant can have a bad load, and this was probably just one of those loads. Service is always great - the actual... More

Made a special trip to visit again and we loved it. It was pouring with rain - you might remember that Friday. So I helped fix the window before the glass fell out then we moved seats to get a view of the lighting hitting the water. My fish was spot on and the service was friendly and fun. There... More
