Get the Chowder

On the northern end of Pine Island: but many tables don't have a good view even though it is across the street from the water. Atmosphere, as others have stated, is old Florida (rustic). Good service. Menu and prices are ok. Much of their food is also just ok - except for the seafood chowder... read more

I've loved pie my entire life and thought I'd tasted every kind imaginable. Boy, was I wrong! Was visiting friends on Pine Island and they took me to Capt'n Con's Fish House. We didn't have a meal there, but we made two trips there for pie during our four-day visit. I took a chance on the chocolate coconut cream. Wonderful... More

Wanted to try a new restaurant this visit, so we stopped at Capt Cons. Let me say that I'm not a big fan of fried food so I wasn't sure I would like this. I was pleasantly surprised. I had a combo plate of fried clams, shrimp, & deviled crab. It was delicious & we had a great water view.... More

Although my parents have been coming here for many, many years this was my first time. We all were impressed. Fresh grouper was cooked just right. The only problem was that for lunch it was only available fried and the coating was quite heavy. It was still very good - just heavy. The fries were average and unless you really... More

So we go here occasionally if we are on Pine Island already, I don't know if I would drive 45 minutes to eat here but it does have decent fish and chips and the prices are very fair The view is what sets this place up as a good place to go We will be back

Visited Captain Cons on our yearly visit to relatives in the Cape, food was as good as previous visits, service was good. In an excellent position with great views of the sea, you can also eat outside.

We have visited this restraunt dive for many years and it consistantly has good fish and great pies. What more could you ask for? Shrimp peel and eat is delightful. But the homemade pies are to die for... coconut cream, peanut butter, chocolate coconut cream, blueberry, blackberry, pecan all are good so save room.

If the owners put some money and effort in the interior, they would probably be in every travel book. But as it is, it like discovering a day tripping diamond. It is located on a beautiful strip of the bay, but the restaurant doesn't take advantage of the view. My fried fish special was a 10. The batter was light... More

This was not our first trip to Capt'n Con's because it is a "must visit" for our friends and relatives to appreciate that there is a bit of Florida that hasn't been paved over. No complaints from anyone who has enjoyed the fish, fried chicken, shrimp and (best of all!) the pies. The informality of the service and eclectic arrangement... More

if you're looking for ambience or nice decor, this is not the place. The food however was good, not great, but good, plain fare. We wanted to eat outside but were told we couldn't -- even though there was space. Very odd. They need more staff, or more efficient staff. We had a long wait to get a seat. Everyone... More
