Let me start by saying that Wilmington really needs a good French restaurant. I had very high hopes when I went to Bistro Jacques for dinner recently; some were realized, some not. First of all, you won't find a better welcome or better service anywhere. Bistro Jacques (hereafter BJ) offers free valet parking, an inviting reception, an attractive bar and... More

We started with the muscles. Though the broth was tasty the muscles were very small which made them difficult to eat. Each was about the size of a dime. I had the duck which did not have the skin rendered properly and was served nearly raw (chefs preference of cooking). My wife had the filet which was mushy. Overall not... More

I'm sorry to hear of your unsatisfactory experience. We are in the process of training some new kitchen staff, so we will make every effort to be sure that they are better able to serve our food to our customer's satisfaction in the future. I also apologize for the size of the mussels, but it was a very bad winter... More

We had heard good things about this restaurant. While it was not horrible, it did not live up to our expectations.

Everybody knows about French cuisine but when we think of Belgium, the only things that come to mind are "beer, chocolate & waffles". Jacques proves that Belgian cuisine is so much more. I started off with the cheese plate and the croquettes and could have very well stopped there since the appetizers alone are very much worth going to the... More

We enjoyed a delicious dinner with friends. Service was excellent. This is a small family run restaurant- great food, good wine at a reasonable price. Started with a sharing plate of cheese and meats. We got to choose which we wanted, of course had a side of Belgian Frites with a choice of dipping sauces. The duck breast and chicken... More

What a great time and a great meal my husband and I had. We were first time customers on a Thursday night and we had a terrific time! The highlight of the evening was that there were two couples having dinner who spoke French which they were speaking to the owner the whole time and since it was towards the... More

I called this evening to make a reservation for Friday night. And as I am from out of town, I had a couple quick questions to ask the owner when he answered the phone: is it byob, kid friendly, etc. The owner matter of fairly said, "I am in the middle of closing my restaurant for the night. I do... More

I apologise if I misunderstood your questions and sounded rude on the phone. English is not my first language and sometimes my manner of speaking can come across as rude or annoyed when it is not my intention. As you can see most of our reviews are excellent when it comes to service, but since I am a small owner... More
